  1. Tony, Send me an e-mail once you're ready to go to Holland and I'll send you the particulars. My Dodge, and the tyres, are in Veghel, outside of Eindhoven. Goran N
  2. Hi Tony, I will shortly have two cloverleafs for sale, off my WC51. They've been on the back axle and still retain 70-80% of the tread. My WC51 is presently under restoration by my good friend Micha Korst in Veghel, Holland, and a rear tire change is planned, from cloverleafs to NDT's - like the two front one's and the spare. Check out http://www.MVBros.com for pictures and you'll probably see the shape the tires are in. Holland is nearer to you than Sweden, too :-) Goran N
  3. Here are a few examples from my collection. Both softskin vehicles and armored ones (Halftracks). Goran N
  4. Hello Kostas, Welcome to the friendly forum, from a member in Sweden. Goran N Γεια σου Κώστα, Καλώς ήρθατε στο φιλικό φόρουμ, από ένα μέλος στη Σουηδία. Γκόραν Ν (Don't you just love Google Translate?) (I have no idea if the translation above is any good, but it looks impressive ;-)
  5. Not all external hard drives are good. I had my SeaGate 1.5 TB HD give up the ghost, due to a known malfunction in the software. When asked to retrieve the info I had thereon, among them 6 months work as a photographer, they replied: "No dice" It would cost me from 1500-2000€ (!!!!!) to retrieve the info. So: Don't buy a SeaGate if you want to be sure to keep your files.... Same thing happened with a 2 TB Lacie HD. It just stopped working one day. The three [!] hard drives I use now are all WD (Western Digital) 2 TB units, 2 with USB2 connection and 1 with eSata connection. They never missed a beat. Goran N
  6. Hello Fernando, Welcome to the friendly forum. Any and all questions are ok here. My interest is mainly in the Dodge WC models. I own a 1945 Dodge WC51 that is marked as an ambulance of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force. It is currently under restoration in Holland, done by my good miltary vehicle brother Micha Korst, in Veghel. We have a new webiste: http://www.MVBros.com'>http://www.MVBros.com'>http://www.MVBros.com where you can follow the restoration in pictures. I will soon add a part on the site with information about the Brazilian Expeditionary Force. I have been studying the history of the FEB for several years now, but I have problems finding sources that are written in English, as my Portugese is bad. It would be fun to chat and share information. You can reach me here: goran_noren[at]yahoo[dot]com Kind regards Ps: We will shortly put up a 1943 Sherman M4A1 for sale on our website. It is a so called "Grizzly" made in Canada. É o chamado "Grizzly" fabricado no Canadá. 7. Tjenare Johan, I'm glad you liked our website. Yes, Micha is a magician when it comes to restorations. He works really fast and is a role model for all restorers. Micha will be taking on the resto of my newly purchased 1/4t trailer too. Originally thought to be a 1945 Bantam T3, that turned out to be a July 1943 Willys MBT! We are in the process of setting up, and expanding, our business end of the MVBros. You can specify the parts you need for your Dodge and we'll see what we can do. We have a number of WC's in the pipeline, some of them to be restored, some to be broken for parts. Write down your needs and send them to me and we'll see what we can help you with. goran_noren[snabel-a]yahoo[punkt]com Goran N
  8. We are two MV enthusiasts, Goran in Sweden, and Micha in Holland, who together have started a new venue: MVBros. Our plan is for a one-stop place for your MV needs. We can source parts and vehicles for most WW2 vehicles of US origin. Our first order of the day is the partial tear down and restoration of a 1945 Dodge WC51. Please check out our website: http://www.MVBros.com - where we are posting pictures of the restoration. MVBros Goran & Micha
  9. Welcome here, Sylvia. Another friendly forum to be a member of=) Planning any work on "Commander George"? "Zé Carioca", my WC51, is currently under restoration in Holland. The company that did the paint job before Normandy 2009 did a very poor job and used many kilos of body filler instead of removing the rust, like they claim to have done....:-( Also bought a 1945 Bantam T3, ex French army, that is being put back into original shape, also in Holland, Goran N
  10. The first plastic model I ever built, many many moons ago, was of a M4 High Speed Tractor, and I think (If my memory serves me correctly) a 155mm Long Tom gun. Sweet vehicle. What's the story behind it? Is it one of the High Speed tractors that arrived from the US some time ago? Good luck with the resto. Goran N
  11. Hiya Stanley, You can e-mail me the pictures and I'll shrink them to the correct "forum size" for you. Each e-mail can contain attachments up to 20MB. Just send as many e-mails as is necessary. goran_noren[at]yahoo[dot]com This find sounds really intriguing. It must be quite dangerous keeping all that rusty ammo lying around.... Goran N
  12. The Dodge WC is one of the nicest vehicles I know, both to own and drive. The steering is heavy when parking, agreed, but a long time MV collector gave me a tip: When parking, or maneuvering in tight spots, just before the vehicle comes to a stop, and while still moving, turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction. Takes a bit of practice but works like a charm. This also saves wear and tear on the steering linkage, as opposed to trying to turn the wheels while the vehicle is stationary. Your right hand foot, the "throttle foot" will get tired (also called "Dodge foot") while driving over long distances, as the throttle is positioned o high up on the transmission tunnel. A way to relieve the tension is to use the hand throttle=) Good luck with you Command Car, Goran N
  13. My friend who's restoring my Bantam T3 found the following numbers on it: 0890080372 Does anyone have more info on this registration number? Thanks, Goran N
  14. I think the GMC CCKW 353 open cabin is ex. Norway. The tell tale position lights on the wings gives it away. Goran N
  15. A lot of the work carried out is done by unpaid volunteers. It's amazing that this museum became a reality at all. Looking forward to visiting what will probably be one of the best MV museums in the world. Goran N Lidingo Sweden
  16. Tjenare Örjan, Välkommen hit. [Translation:Welcome :-)] Radio equipment and how they work is a sadly neglected subject. There are a few guys, and very dedicated, that I know personally here in Sweden. But I for one pass over radio stuff while going thru surplus stuff, as I don't have a clue how to work them. My ex. Norwegian army 1945 Dodge WC51 was equipped with two antenna bases, and had obviously been a radio vehicle. One bases on the drivers side, a MP48, and a extended one on the right hand side, just behind the passenger. I still have both antenna bases, actually. Göran N Lidingö
  17. Lets not forget the tremendous work carried out by Swedish enthusiast Mikael Carlson, who built a full scale perfect working replica of the Fokker Dreidecker SE-XXZ (This was the same type Manfred von Richthofen flew when he was killed) "It climbs like a monkey, and turns like the devil"... Amazing, really, considering the stringent laws we have in Sweden concerning flying and building aircraft. Goran N Lidingo Sweden
  18. An extraordinary amount of sirens have found their way on to Belgian MV's for some reason...;-) Goran N
  19. Very nice Dodge, indeed. There are, however, some ex Norwegian additions to it (see picture). The free wheeling hubs were not a Norwegian army addition. I've been to 4 auctions of Dodge WC51/52's in Norway in the 80's and 90's and not a single Dodge had them installed. I find it difficult getting your money back for the cost of buying and installing a set, taking into consideration the few miles we drive each year. Goran N [ATTACH=CONFIG]35475[/ATTACH]
  20. Hi Elvis (Thought he was no more....), I'd try the Dodge forum on this one: http://forum.ww2dodge.com/viewforum.php?f=5 Good luck, Goran N
  21. Tjenare Johan, The winch extension on your Dodge might be a post war addition from the Dodge Factory. I heard that the Dodge Power Wagons had a winch extension that bolted on. This setup also fits the WW2 Dodge's. I'm enclosing a picture (partial) of three of the plaques from a Swedish Dodge WC. Hope this helps. I will exchange my exhaust manifold in my WC51, as it has a small hairline crack in it, about 5-6 cms long. I suppose the crack can be welded if you can find a welder that knows how to weld cast steel. I can sell the cracked manifold cheaply to you, if you want it. Göran N
  22. Tjenare Johan, What model WC do you have? See if you can rustle up a Swedish TM (Technical manual) for the Terrängbil M46, there might be pictures in there with the plaques you need. There's a company in Stockholm (or used to be, at least) that can/could make one off plaques using a picture as template (mall). I found the TM at "Krigsarkivet" in Stockholm. You might find them at Tradera or Blocket, if you're lucky. Try joining the MFHF (Militärfordons Historiska Föreningen*), there's a lot of knowledge there. * http://www.mfhf.se/cms/index.php Good luck, Göran N
  23. Hi Peolini, I'd try http://cletrac.org/ or try: http://www.heavyequipmentforums.com/showthread.php?t=1947 There are several VERY knowledgeable guys there that speak fluent Cletrac ;-) Good luck, Goran N Lidingo Sweden
