  1. Good work there old chap ! Rob................rnixartillery.
  2. If its light suface rust and paint the best thing is a stiff cup brush on a 5 or 9 inch grinder,if its proper rust it needs blast treating and polishing. Thats how I do it ! Rob....................rnixartillery

  4. Just to comfirm that neither of the Blocks are 105 Light Gun, or B.A.T. Part number for the Light Gun Block is FL15965. Rob......................rnixartillery.
  5. A fact that you should never believe all that you read in books, especially if it is someone elses oppinion. I realized this researching the Pheasant. Perry, how is that Machine of yours coming along ? Rob................rnixartillery.
  6. The early (pre war) L40 60 had non removable axles. This was a very well designed gun and much superior to the later War time mass produced variant. The Model 38 was demounted (dropped) useing front and rear axle design but they were a permanant fixture. Rob.....................rnixartillery.
  7. Yes you are quite correct the Mk IVA and Mk IVB were not wire bound, this was an important development stage in design. Although the wire bound method had been standard practice for many years some might argue that there was loss in Longitudinal strength in the Ordnance. Rob......................rnixartillery.
  8. The 18 pdr and 25 pdr Mk1 are different Ordnance construction completely. 18 pdr was made up from Breech ring,Wire, jacket and A-tube. 25pdr Mk1 was made up from Breech Ring,Loose liner Securing screw, loose liner ,Jacket ,Muzzle Bush and Muzzle bush securing screw. Definition of Loose liner is when the liner is completely protected by the Jacket,A Loose barrel projects (exposes) at the front through the Jacket. In the case of the 25 pdr Mk1 it has a liner rather than a barrel/tube. Rob..................rnixartillery.

  14. Chris, I dont think that will take much space up in the barn ! There are very few handy sized Artillery pieces around but that is definately one of them ! is it the 14.5mm gun ? Just on the subject but I know where there is a complete Carriage missing the gun if you fancy another ? :cool2: Rob...................rnixartillery.
  15. All buying and selling is based on trust......................full stop. and as said before no seller is going to let an item go before it is paid for. Unfortunately now and then you get a bad egg ! Rob........................rnixartillery.

  19. Peter, Yes this type of drag rope is near impossible to find, When I restored my L5 I wanted to find the full CES for it but could find virtualy nothing in the UK so after contacting of few of my fellow big gun collectors half way around the world I secured a deal and imported everything I wanted including a set of No11 Mk3 drag ropes. Now the first problem is where the hell I have put them ! I will investigate................................. Rob...............rnixartillery.
  20. Did you buy the one from Terry ? Rob.............rnixartillery.
  21. The words "Rocking horse ****" come to mind ! same rope thats in the L5 CES. Rob..............rnixartillery.

  23. This type of spares box was used throughout the war for use inside Armoured Cars,I recently sold two that are identicle to yours but it was for the 2 pounder gun dated 1945 ! your one is in Very good nic . Rob...............rnixartilley
  24. There are other alternatives you could consider, Gas fired being one and you can hide all the componants inside the turret. Conversion would be the expensive bit but from then on it would be cheaper than fireing powder charges. Electric Pyro is another option. Rob................rnixartillery
  25. You will only be permitted to store a small quantity (for personal use). Unfortunately Andy these issues lie with your local Firearms Licencing, as you will be aware by now although the Firearms and Explosives Law is printed in "Black and White" how your local Authority interprets it is another thing ! Good luck...................... Rob......................rnixartillery.
