  1. So.......................what did you have in mind ? :cool2: easy to get carried away at this point although the rarer breeds of Artillery take a bit of finding ! Rob..................rnixartillery.
  2. This Gun was built in 1938 ! Rob...............rnixartillery.
  3. An APDS Round will do the trick, especialy if its just left the end of a 17 pdr ! Rob.................rnixartillery.
  4. I think if I was EVER to get back into tracks it would be an Archer..........................very nice ! Rob...............rnixartillery
  5. It has a new home ! Rob................rnixartillery.
  6. Had a Brainstorm ! its at Les oakes and sons reclamation yard, Oakmoor Road ,Cheadle ! Visable on Google Satalite and street scene. :wow: Rob............rnixartillery.
  7. I cant remember off the top of my head,Commander bought his WWI German Mortar from the Auction in 2011 but the tank prop was not for sale at the time,I'll have a think and let you know. Rob................rnixartillery.
  8. Here is one of those prop Tanks residing in Staffordshire. It really needs saving ! Rob...............rnixartillery.
  9. Andy, I was standing back to let someone else answer your question but Have you bought the Polsten advertised on Milweb ? You are quite limited with what you can do with this ,as you will know the most common mounting was the 'Iron Lady' otherwise known as the Canadian Quad mount built be John Inglis in 1944.Other options are Naval pedestal mounts which are static so not much use really and the final option is the Airborne trailer carrying a single gun, there was someone a while ago 'knocking' these up and passing them off as originals...................:nut: yeah right ! as Brucie use to say 'The choice is yours' Rob.........................rnixartillery.
  10. Let her do the driving ! I know it sounds a primative system but I can tell you that the gun will tow very well behind any truck and there will be no need to have anybody, wife included hanging out of the rear of the vehicle. Rob...............rnixartillery.
  11. Questions answered in your thread in 'I may be stupid but..................' Rob...................rnixartillery
  12. Niels, Just dropped some bits off yesterday for blasting,to be honest it just needs breaking down, painting and re-assembling. I still need to find one new 9.00/16 trakgrip tyre for it though. I am in the process of building another shed at the moment so funds permiting that needs finishing before I resume any restorations. The new building space is already full before its finished ! :nut: Rob.................rnixartillery.
  13. Gordon, the original wheel size was 16" and the rim was the same as fitted the Mortar supply trailer as shown in some of the B&W pictures, they were modified at a later date and fitted with surplus 6 pdr rims 8.25/10. Rob................rnixartillery.
  14. I was offered one last year for $20,000 Au + shipping :wow: ,slightly out of my price range ! My one cost a LOT less but still enough for what you get,I could buy a 25 pdr for the same amount of money. But as a collector its all about finding the unusual, obscure and rare pieces. Rob.................rnixartillery.
  15. Keith, I can see why the museum left you with a 'chaperone',I think it would be very tempting to take it home.:nono: It is a very unusual piece of ordnance and there does not appear to be anything quite like it for size and moverbility. The one that I have took some seriouse tracking down and I had to place a lot of trust in a guy I did not know at first but He honoured his word and we both ended up with what we wanted. I have been trying to dig up some history on these units and from what I know Jowett cars of Bradford built the mobile base plates and that is as far as I have got, anymore info greatly recieved. Rob..................rnixartillery.
  16. Just in today are the two variations of muzzle cover for the tube, both NOS but have storage marks. I have laid out the accessories I have collected but still missing the 'Pigs tail' used to clean the tube,a colleague has them but we need to work out a trade which can become a major problem :banghead: if we dont have what the other is looking for ! Rob..................rnixartillery
  17. A few more of the Infantry Version. Rob...................rnixartillery.
  18. Correct, these Guns were built to a very high standard even the sights were advanced for the age. When the Bofors was built under license by the British and Canadians the design was simplified drasticaly to save on production time and cost for mass production. The Americans continued with the original design on 20" wheels,a much nicer Gun. Rob....................rnixartillery.
  19. A few more pictures here. The Morris 15cwt appeared to be the designated tractor for this piece. Rob..............rnixartillery.
  20. Not at all, infact they look and tow extremely well behind a SWB Jimmy. Braking is not an issue either, the Gun brake was operated by one of the guns crew sat in the back of the truck with his legs dangling out pulling on a rope when required. The rope through a pully system operates the plunger in the brake master cylinder which in turn applies the brakes in the rear axle. The gun I am in the process of buying is virtualy the same but built in the states by Firestone and has all the usual yank parts added, Lights, reflectors etc. Rob..............rnixartillery.
  21. I should think it was built in 1938 , this was the Model the yanks originaly copied,I am in the process of acquiring the yank equivalent built be Firestone. If you need tyres you will have to go to Lambrook or some other vintage tyre co,I had to import mine from the states.....Not cheap but well worth fitting new tyres. Rob...............rnixartillery.
  22. Swedish Bofors,ex-Portuguese stock. This Model is said to be the best Bofors built............a very highly engineered Gun and each componant has matching numbers. You are a lucky chap ! I have one in my collection,if you need accessories let me know. Rob...............rnixartillery. ps, Hydraulic brakes not electric operated .
  23. Adrian, Sounds like you are getting into some refined collecting :cool2: instead of that big heavy noisy stuff ! :nut: Rob.................rnixartillery.
  24. What nationality is the Gun and is it Wartime or Postwar ?.................Big difference ! Rob...............rnixartillery.
  25. :clap:well done that man ! ' Well I have quite a few more pieces on my wanted list but I think a couple of them could be 'pipe dreams' excuse the pun. I have been offered two Guns recently that are very special indeed but are BIG BUCKS so unfortunately I will have to move a couple of pieces on to generate funds, storage is also getting a bit short so I am now concentrating on smaller pieces but still British Commonwealth foremost. Rob................rnixartillery.
