  1. Hi Tim, Fantastic news. We like to see photos here, rusty pile of bits or not. What are you planning to do engine wise? All the best of luck, Richard
  2. Would think the appropriate manual would also give rigging details, sling lengths, slinging points etc aswell to ensure a level lift, which I imagine would be quite important. Good luck and post some pics. Richard
  3. Fantastic news. Will be great to see this beast being used in anger again Best of luck, Richard
  4. You could get someone with the required equipment to air-arc gouge the weld out. Good luck, Richard
  5. Glad someone came to our little show. Hope you enjoyed it. Have you got anything you could bring next year? Where did you come from? Richard
  6. I was the last ditch buyer on these two. Couldn't bear to see them go to scrap, so offered to buy if no one else wanted them. I was interested to see where they had gone and progress that has been made. The 666 had never really appeared on my radar but when I started looking up pics of restored vehicles realised they have a brutal look that I found quite attractive and have since found myself wishing I had bought them. Oh well, good luck to Roy and whoever had the other one and look forward to seeing them at a show soon. Richard
  7. Yeah looks good. They look like rubber gloves, I use welding gauntlets, better for when you need to get in close. Richard
  8. JBlast Supa, I think is the way to go, have used it several times with very good results. Don't bother with Soda for blasting armour - too gentle, plus you need a special pot. I use a large contractor style Hodge Clemco pot with a 2 tool compressor from Speedy, with good results. Paint as soon as possible, definitely same day. Don't use any iron based abrasives, because any you don't get out before painting will shake its way out onto your freshly painted surface when you start using the vehicle and rust. Definitely use the proper air fed hood and put some ear plugs in too! You should easily be able to blast and paint a 432 in a day. Post some pics and write up on how you get on so others can learn from it. That's my two cents. Good luck, Richard
  9. Hi John, Yeah slowly. Dad just bought us a new workshop so were in the process of moving in there. There's steady progress on the engine. Richard
  10. We'd certainly like to see some pictures if he's agreeable.
  11. Oh cool. I could only catch a glimpse as I drove by, but it looked quite accurate. Good on them.
  12. I've been working in London recently and driving in on the A40 spotted what appears to be a WW1 tank perched on top of a building signed as being Vanguard self storage. Does anyone know what its story is, how it came to be there, is it the real deal? It certainly looks so driving past. Richard
  13. Looks great. How did you get on with the engine-gearbox alignment? How close we're you able to get it? Richard
  14. I've found another one! I've tried contacting the owner but not had anything back yet. Does anyone know who it is and what their intentions are for it? Also the one mentioned in the post above as being found in MO, actually wasn't, it was an M4 Richard
  15. About a year ago a work colleague gave me a photo book produced by Tamiya on the Churchill tank, presumably as a modellers aid. I thought there would probably be some people on here interested, so always intended on scanning and posting it here, but due to starting my own business have only just got round to it. Can anyone spot the link to a certain upcoming cinematic release? So, here it is. Enjoy. Richard
  16. I maybe stupid, but can I not upload a pdf to HMVF? I normally upload pictures to photobucket and post a link, but photobucket apparently doesn't support pdfs. Help please. Thanks in advance, Richard
  17. Looks to be a very nice example of a lovely truck, quite jealous. Keep us updated with progress. All the best, Richard
  18. Hi nick, We bought the gearbox from your donor vehicle, and I'm trying to get hold of Steve regarding some other small items. Can I have his phone number please? Cheers, Richard
  19. I was planning on using this stuff to group bundles of cables together. http://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/products/344-container-wiring-harness-sleeving . Richard
  20. You can buy cotton braid wiring in a number of different colours with different colour "flecks". It can also be bought by-the-metre or by-the-roll. I had planned on making mine "to fit" and knowing the hand finished nature of British vehicles that's gotta be the way to go. I'll see what I can do to finish my revised wiring diagram and post it for comment. Richard
  21. I started a thread in the electrics, lubrication section about the Pioneers wiring. I found a number of discrepancies in the wiring diagram as its shown in the manual. I have started re drawing it, and when I get to that stage will finish it complete with wire sizes. Like you I want it to look right with cotton braided wiring etc. Knowing how expensive it is, I was planning on using cotton braid everywhere except the run from the cab to the back end for which I plan on using a length of 7 core trailer cable, terminating that at a junction box on the rear cross member and using cotton braid again to go out to the rear lights. Richard
  22. Hi Tim, Great to see another Mat embarking on the resto process. We have one waiting its turn. Keep us updated with pics and feel free to come see ours in Somerset anytime. Richard http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb164/scammell4199/20090807132241272_0001.jpg
