  1. Steve, Have had the same problem. Unless you can afford to buy enough to do a whole vehicle in one go, it seems to be a risk you run. I'm using Warpaint (RR Motor Services) now, and it seems to be pretty consistent so far. But i'll be ineterested to see what others come up with. Good luck, Richard
  2. John, What thickness timber did you use for your cab floor? Richard
  3. I had some NOS ones more than 10 years ago from Tony Sudds, which is now Universal Jeep Supplies. Try them. Good luck. Richard
  4. Thanks chaps. Some good help there. We better get on and get some tickets. Cheers, Richard
  5. Morning all, has anyone been to the Carrousel event at Saumur Tank Museum? From what i gather its their main event of the year, when all the runners are given a run out, a bit like Tankfest - correct? Any recommendations wether one particular day is better than another? Any pictures or experiences from previous years? Thanks, Richard
  6. Ah brilliant, thanks for the tip off Maurice. Kind regards, Richard
  7. Just wanted to bump this to the top, in the hope of jolting someones memory. Also, does anyone know of someone who could rebuild my original. I've tried Stephen Hodgson, Speedy Cables and Speedograph and none seem interested. Cheers, Richard
  8. Well, this is what i have always understood to be the explorer type which looks like yours. Whereas, this is mine and is how it looks in the mamual. Its not a problem for me presently, mine is fine. But i enquire out of interest since spares of both are hard to come by, so the option to fit an explorer one may one day come in handy for someone. Looking at them it doesn't look like an easy switch. Richard
  9. No probs John, glad to help. Thanks Steve Ed, having looked at the pictures in the workshop manual, its the same leather washer arrangement but from the pictures it looks like they could well be different diameters. Richard
  10. Sorry its taken a while to come back, i had to dig the invoice out. Oil seals came from PAR Group (http://www.par-group.co.uk), they are 3mm thick leather and i had them cut with a 210 o/d and 130 i/d. If you speak to them quote invoice number AINV028604, and just ask for more of the same. Good luck, Richard
  11. Hi John, Looks like you have an explorer coupling between engine and gearbox. Am i right? was it an easy fit? Richard
  12. Bit a of milestone reached this weekend. After waiting 4 months for the sand blasting man to return all the cab bits, we finally lifted the frame on ready to start skinning. Engine is also making progress. I'm currently stripping the heads and will soon take them to get the valve seats re-cut and the valves re-ground. I've also stripped the injector pump and rebuilt it with new bearings. I vapour blasted the casings to give them that lovely fresh as-cast look, and i've lined up a local guy to re-build the pump elements and calibrate it. Richard
  13. Don't use wet blasting on ferrous materials, the rust will set in before you've even finished, so you'll be wasting you time and money. Stick to a big old pressure pot, lots of air and a load of JBlast grit. Good luck, Richard
  14. Why is the Marshall Museum in Overloon selling vehicles? http://www.milweb.net/webvert/79059 Are there changes afoot? Richard
  15. Hi Bill, I've sent you a private message. Best regards, Richard
  16. Hi NOS & Richard, Yes I have tried Bernie and got a somewhat abrupt response from who I presume is his wife just saying "no". I found that one on eBay Richard, like you say a bit pricey. Hope to find a couple a bit more keenly priced. Thanks for your replies. Ear to the ground. Richard
  17. It should be a Simms B75559. Thanks in advance, Richard
  18. Nice. Always get a better result when you do it yourself. Can we see your blaster and compressor setup please? Richard
  19. Hey Nige, I've been thinking about it and given that the present one has lasted 11 years I don't think its worth the extra expense of getting a stainless one. I am going to do one for the Scammell however, and have been meaning to ask you about the down pipe, because I remember you making one for Emmas munga, did you get that done at Top Gear? I had always presumed you had made it yourself. Cheers, Rich
  20. Would like to bring our Willys MB with three people in our group. I'd tear my right arm off to bring the Scammell, but realistically speaking it ain't gonna be ready Richard
  21. Evening all, does anyone know of a supply of stainless exhaust systems for MB/GPW? I tried my normal jeep part dealer today and one of the other big names with no joy. Thanks, Richard
  22. Anyone know whats going to happen to it?
