  1. For a start the so called "reporting" of this story is rubbish. They seem to have got all the facts wrong. Jesus, all you need to do is Google FV434 and you will get all the answers you need. How do these people make reporters??? The 434 looks in great condition. However the blokes attitude stinks. He sounds like the average "Neighbour from Hell" and it looks like the locals have had to put up with it for years. Seems to me as the council have taken away all his previous rubbish he has been looking at ways in getting some payback and has chose this avenue to do it. I'd start by asking this bloke if he has the correct H tracked vehicle licence to drive it and a working comms system for commander/driver comms. He doesn't look like a real enthusiast to me and the hobby can do without people like him and the bad press he brings.
  2. Saw this at W&P last year. Think they are travellers. Woman with very long black hair and about 6 kids. All Southern Irish. He certainly gets about!!

    Fuel

If you want to be really depressed, see what Venezuela charges for petrol. In my Adventure Bike Rider magazine it was printed that they are paying 0.7 pence per litre:wow::wow:. It costs 33 pence to fill the average tank. I reckon I'd be better selling everything and moving there. I could buy fuel the rest of my life just on some meager savings...
  4. A guy at work bought one a month ago. A week after he had it the rear diff went. Apparently they blow diffs quite regularly.
  5. When I was posted out there I heard a story about a Land Rover that had rolled into a minefield. Wonder if it was the same incident?
  6. Get onto the EMLRA website and contact Mark Cook or buy his book. Sure there are plenty of photo's on there for you to have a look at. You would be able to make one out of fiberglass if you got the measurements!!
  7. Ah yes. Appologies. When I saw the "registered 1960" I thought he meant the vehicle. Was wondering how you could register a Daf that new as 1960 considering they didn't even make them then...:-X;)
  8. Mark Cook was the only guy who was able to get a VPK kit for his Lightweight. He sold his vehicle to a guy in NI. So there is one around.
  9. There is nothing wrong with a bi annual MOT. Canada doesn't even have MOT's. They require a safety inspection if they are sold, but after that they are MOT free. France seems to manage on 2 yearly MOT's and we are supposed to be towing the line with the rest of Europe (or so i thought). Every vehicle still needs to be roadworthy regardless of MOT being yearly or 2 yearly. Nothing stopping plod pulling you over if you have a dodgy looking vehicle.
  10. Just seen this on Milweb. A Leyland Daf registered in Belgium, the home of the EU and it's laws. BUT, look at the year the guy has registered it on!!!!!:shocked: http://www.milweb.net/webverts/56143/
  11. I've got an MJ and know where your comming from. I still want a REO as these are a piece of wee to work on.
  12. Use the LHS in Auto position and she will load and unload no problems. When unloading find level ground. Apply handbrake. Switch to auto. Unload until the flat rack touches the ground. When it touches the ground, let off the handbrake and let her roll forward in neutral. Let the hook drop slightly more after the rack stops lowering, engage a forward gear and pull forward. To load it's the opposite. Don't use the footbrake to shunt towards the rack to engage the hook. There is a round metal foot button on the floor. This is a shunt brake. Use this to shunt the hook arm onto the A frame. Once the hook arm is engaged with the rack keep the truck in neutral with hand brake off. Lift the rack. As soon as the rack touches the rear rollers apply handbrake and lift all the way up using 1500RPM.
  13. I thought only a vehicle above 7.5 tonnes could use the V112G exemption? What is the vehicle you own and what do you use it for?
  14. Nice M109. Get some west coast mirrors for it. Rod at Marltrax was advertising them brand new in the box on Milweb.
  15. Newbury VOSA has a great bunch of lads working there. There are only one or two jobsworths who work there and they tend to be the younger guys.
  16. Bare in mind if you take your vehicle to VOSA for a voluntary inspection and it fails any of the test, you will need to fix the vehicle to make it roadworthy (should be roadworthy anyway). Some faults may result in a GV9 and you will have to have the vehicle recovered. IE: If the brakes are bad and it's GV9'd you wont be able to drive it home!!
  17. Very sorry to hear this news Neil, I hope the damage done isn't that bad and that it wont get any worse!!
  18. Glad to hear Mark had a good send off. I hope the day went as well as could be expected considering the very sad circumstances. Rest in Peace Mark.
  19. Hi John, Thank you for your reply. I will let the other half know about your offer so that she can tell her friend. If she is interested I will get back to you via PM. Thanks again Andy
  20. This is a very good show. I haven't been for many years, but it's a 3 day event and one of the first shows of the season. Central location, so ideal for the midlands based exhibitors. Click on the link and have a look at the website. Exhibitors forms are available for download and printing off. Is anyone from here attending? http://www.cavalcade.org.uk/TradeEntry.htm
  21. Thank you very much for the offer Ruggyjohn. I will pass on the details and see what she wants to do. Thanks again. Andy
  22. Hello Tony, Wow, that's an amazing offer. I will pass your very generous offer over to my missus and she will let the Daughter of the guy concerned know. Hopefully she will accept. Thanks very much Tony. Andy
  23. Hope you guys don't mine me posting this here. It's posted elsewhere on the forum, but as it's vehicle specific I'm hoping you wont mind? Thanks Andy Diamond T help required for a Veteran!!! The father of a friend of my other half was a driver of a Diamond T Tank Transporter in the Army. It's his 80th birthday in April and what she really wants for his birthday present is for him to either get a trip in or drive a Diamond T again. Apparently he is a collector of classic cars, so he similar to us in his interest for historical vehicles. The gentleman lives in Guildford and she is willing to travel to where the Diamond T is based. I'm sure she would be willing to pay for the fuel! Are there any Diamond T owners that would be willing to give this Veteran a drive or trip in their Diamond T for his 80th birthday in April? If you think you can help, please PM me and I can pass your details onto the Daughter of the Veteran for her to contact you. Thanks in advance for any help offered. Andy
