  1. I'd go for a full set of XZL's. They are the tyre issued after the XCL's. Great tyre on road as well as off and reasonably priced and easy to get hold of. Call LW Vass as they have a big stoke of these. http://www.vass.co.uk/treads.asp
  2. That's dreadful news. My thoughts and best wishes go to his family and friends. R.I.P.
  3. As Richard said, sounds like you have a sticking wheel cylinder. Contact Dave Abbot at Bedford parts to see if he has a repair kit. Great bloke who knows what he is doing. http://www.bedfordparts.co.uk/
  4. It doesn't matter that a vehicle is in preservation. For the Good year tyres the OP was asking about, the TP's given are from the AESP and as such are the correct pressures for that tyre. It's not that high considering the size of the tyre and the weight of the vehicle. Artic tyres run at over 100psi.
  5. There is a guy called Mark Hutchings (I think that's his name) in Kent. He used to have a lot of Reo's. The other place you could try is here. http://www.reomie.com/index.htm
  6. The tyres were cracked. They were on for 12 years. They were XCL's and the cracks were a few mill deep. The guy said they needed replacing, so I bought 5 new tyres. Carcas meaning the sidewall and structure of the tyre in general.
  7. At the end of the day, it's down to the Police or VOSA to prosecute you (if they are illegal) and a Magistrate to make the decision. One tyre firm might say they are legal, another illegal. Why don't you post some pictures on here so we can have a good look?
  8. I've had to replace all 5 of my Defender tyres due to the MOT tester advising that they required changing due to age related cracks in the carcas. (over a year ago now) This might prove useful. http://www.etyres.co.uk/uk-tyre-law
  9. No worries there mate. The site is pretty big. Also got my pass during the week. Looking forward to the show.:-D
  10. An M35A2 tyres will be 9.00x20. 11.00x20 can be used on the same rims, but 900's are the correct size. These tyres always crack. I can't remember the last time I saw a Reo without cracked tyres. However, they will be illegal to use on the road and it's 3 points and a £60 fine for EACH tyre.
  11. I suppose living in America you will be able to fit a live .50 cal to the gun ring???:cool2:
  12. Hello mate. Here are the TP's for the Bedford MJ with Good Year Radial tyres. On Road: Front: 58 lbf/in 2. Rear and spare: 87 lbf/in 2 Off Road: Front: 44 lbf/in 2. Rear and spare: 65 lbf/in 2 Info taken from AESP 2320-H-100-601 Jan 2000.
  13. About 19.00hrs last night after I just finished working on the Bedford, the full compliment of RED ARROWS flew right over my house very low and in a Arrow Head formation. Very cool.
  14. Are there any members attending this excellent show??? http://www.wapg.co.uk/docs/rally_flyer.pdf
  15. I do all my own mechanical work, unless I haven't got the tools to do the job, or I need a hydraulic press etc.
  16. Paul, have you sent out the show forms yet as I haven't received mine so far? Also my mate wants to come, but isn't taking his truck as he is coming up from Cornwall, but wants to come up in his van with his 12x12. He is an MVT member. Can he just turn up, he will be with me? Cheers Andy
  17. I think the small touches go a long way too. I like to have a plaque, as a keep sake and momento of a show I've been too. It's just a small token of thanks for making the effort to help make the show a success. This show is supposed to be the MVT National show and yet you don't recieve a bean!!!! I've had excellent brass plaques from pretty small steam events, so I'm sure the National Show could provide one. A member of the team introducing themselves would also be nice. It happens at other shows I attend. I never saw one person go round at T&T.
  18. Last year was quiet and I had my doubts then, but this year quite frankly was terrible.
  19. Thanks alot Richard. I can use the oil I bought for the landy and axles. Will check out your link. Thanks again mate.
  20. Well. Drove down in the truck on Thursday and arrived at 17:00. There were only a few people there when I turned up, and that's pretty much how it stayed all weekend. I went in the Arena on Saturday, along with a Bedford RL in light green and a Ferret and that was the sum of the Post War Heavy and Armour effort on that front. Looking around, there were hardly any spectators. I decided not to bother on Sunday because of this. We went into the bar in the evening on Friday for the only "free" entertainment of the weekend. The band were playing 40's Glen Miller type music and I have to say they were excellent. It's a shame that Saturday and Sundays entertainment was at a price of £10 per head. This ensured a low turnout. The facilities at T&T are excellent. It's a real shame that the show seems to be winding down. I've tried to be positive, but charging people £10 per head for evening entertainment when we spend a fortune on fuel is just not on, especially when money is tight. I heard the burger van was selling burger and chips for nearly £8?????? Also don't forget the £17 entry fee for the public:wow: I enjoyed the show, but the lack of exhibiters, public, trade stalls, funfair people running a diesel generator past 1am, and high cost has swayed me to Overlord next year.
  21. Well I'm sorry to say I never attended this show this year. I was going to but went to the "other" show because of pressure from a mate (he didn't take his truck in the end anyway) I have to say T&T looks to be on it's last legs. Apart from a Bedford RL my MJ was the only post war heavy vehicle there as far as I could see (British anyway). I'm definitely going to be booking in for this show next year. Quite a few others I spoke to are also going to book in at Overlord. Wish I could turn the clock back.
  22. Richard, Having looked at your post I'm considering changing the oil I've put in for a straight gear oil that is compatible for bronze bushings. I've been looking at the Morris Lube site and they have these three oils available. Can you have a look at the figures in the "Technical data" section when you click on one of the products and let me know which one would suit my gearbox the best? Cheers Andy http://www.morrislubricantsonline.co.uk/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=115
  23. Your right there. Two eruptions in as many years. That's gotta have wiped out all the small savings we are trying to make.
