  1. Also check this out http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-29078596 good bit of video near the bottom
  2. Went to visit today, as staying down the road, had a brief conversation with Bruce Crompton, who was quite happy to chat for a bit, there is another series of Combat Dealers out next year. Shame the VCC was closed, as was hoping to look through it. Still had a great day out, family fed up but I was happy.
  3. Nipped over to Coningsby again, got soaked last weekend, to see them land. Got lucky this time. Absolutely awesome in sight and sound. Coming in over the Castle. Airfield flypast. And safely down. Next viewing I'll be sat on Bournemouth beach.
  4. Found this on another forum. https://www.facebook.com/rafwarmwell2014 Will pop over, as down on holiday in Wool that weekend, taking in GDSF and Bournemouth Air Festival.
  5. I went to Waddington to see the flypast over the cathedral and the split, in the end all I got was bloody soaked. Was a great shame the rain couldn't have held out for a few more hours, really dissappointed!!!!!
  6. Got my tickets for this one, as returning from Dorset on the other date. Will see them both at Bournemouth Air Festival, also got tickets to see them at Coningsby, just got to locate a decent viewing place to see it come in on Friday.
  7. Eventually took it it down to the dry cleaners, £15 later and it looks much more appealing to sleep in.
  8. Hi John, there is an Ameri can, but it needs a new bottom welding in. It's taken nearly 20 years to do, and still a long way to go yet! Lots get cut up, but they also turn up in the most unlikely places too. Still got the bits from that one you cut up last century. Simon
  9. Had some bits back from the shot blasters, so finally got them primered to stop rusting. Think DBG can wait till nearer fitting time. Also been having another go at the switchboard lettering, the transfers didn't like the laquer overcoat. So have now tried vinyl lettering off ebay. Takes a while to pick and place each individual letter, but I think it's the best way i've found so far. Lined up against an old original, letters slightly thicker, but on it's own I think it'll be the way to go, they are supposed to be waterproof and you've got to give it a day for the letters to stick properly, so will check over the weekend.
  10. Another. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/military-vehicle-inspection-light-/251579065470?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Other_Vehicle_Parts_Accessories_ET&hash=item3a9347e47e Bargain price.
  11. Or this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Military-Vehicle-Inspection-Lamp-Light-90-110-Wolf-Series-101-/121378596781?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c42ba67ad Still a tad steep, but I'm sure there are more out there.
  12. This one looks like expensive tat. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUSTIN-CHAMP-MILITARY-INSPECTION-LAMP-LIGHT-/261522835489?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3ce3f9c821 Most FV's had these, but there are better out there for much cheaper!
  13. Hi Nic, could also likely be 1/8" BSP.
  14. Went over to North Witham tonight, and had a wander around the airfield, lovely evening, just thinking about what happened 70 years ago. Stood on the runway near the tower at 21.54, at which time the first aircraft took off. Have got loads of pics, will post some up soon.
  15. Terry, rebuild did go well, seals were a good snug fit in the cylinder. The accumulators are still languishing in the shed awaiting fitment. PM sent re seals. Whilst on the subject, does anyone else want some seals? Simon
  16. Thanks Austin, still pottering really, just waiting on some really good weather so I can get some body panels rivetted on. Got loads of little bits to clean up and refurbish. Next job I've finally got round to doing was the front indicator guards, only taken 14 years! Anyway, got some sheet steel cut out to size and rolled to get the curvature, though not quite true, but a little tweak here and there, and they still look ok. The original items. After cutting the old steel away, it revealed a very rusty mounting ring, so duly cleaned up before welding on new. All glued up, a bit of filler in places, a good rub down and coat of zinc primer. Job done.
  17. George, I'm pretty sure that the seating was across the body, at the front end.
  18. LH or RH thread? Leyland buses used this thread too.
  19. May be wrong, but the same ceramic as the Space Shuttle tiles?
  20. Daft bu99ers! Will try dry cleaners, and see, if not chuck it in the tub!
