  1. Hi Richard, Interesting, I'll double check tomorrow in daylight as the paint has faded around it. Its also hand written in light silver pen on the front end. Cheers Carleton
  2. Interesting thread This is one of my trailers, I seem to have bought 4 varieties this year, oops! A lot of people came and talked to me about it at W&P which was nice, another owner in Holland who’s on here, sorry I forgot your name, and an old chap who is a friend of a friend knew quite a bit about them. He said they are for cable work and remembers them when he served, he said they were WW2 and knows of film footage but I had guessed the body was post war. The GPO did buy them after their military service. The brass data plate which gives the name Jointers 2 wheeled trailer as Clive said and contract info. I thought the chassis is WW2 but the body just post war but could well be wrong, would the WD have re-bodied or stockpiled trailer chassis? What are the metal loops on top for? The chassis and all the running gear is standard WW2 10 cwt. I have placed it next to my Morter and GS trailers and they are identical apart from small details like brackets. It has the standard WW2 handled hitch which I removed to repair. The post war number is 69 EG 69. The trailer pulls very nicely and has compartments inside, I think I will fit larger 6x16 tyres. Simon – Interesting about the spring hangers, I thought mk1 had the pressed ones and mk2 the forged. My Morter and GS have the same forged ones. Radek that’s my friend Andys Austin, I can put you in touch with him if you like. Carleton
  3. FFS Here we go again. They seem to be focussing on reactivation of deacs a lot in this paper. I can see every type of deac being totally welded solid in the future
  4. Purely out of interest do you know what else the museum may be selling?
  5. I saw the circular email. I wonder if someone else will take it on. More central location please
  6. I picked up this old warhorse from Surrey last week, another one saved. Used frequently on a farm and kept under cover. Hasn't been on the road for over 35 years.
  7. A mate of mine also said it was one of the best shows he had been to. One to watch. :cool2: Carleton
  8. I remember seeing that trailer for sale on milweb, well done the finished result looks great.
  9. Doesnt look particularly pre war in design to me. Beautiful truck, do any survive?
  10. Mint one for sale recently in Holland on Milweb for £6000.
  11. I bid on this but it shot up and I left it, well done on your purchase.
  12. Had mine 10 years and loved it, sold to fund other projects but will buy another, probably a 90 next time, bit more user friendly. Carleton
  13. Lovely vehicles guys, this and the Austin version are growing in popularity very fast. Great to see more British stuff entering the scene.
  14. Great first vehicle Tom looks a very clean basis for a restoration. How about a nice kitchen in the back.....not that I would want the output of that at all the future shows to come or should we all be worried about the 'quirky ideas' in store? Look forward to progress. Carleton
  15. Interesting. I've done a fair bit of research on Polsten mountings, its little known that the pre production single airborne mount did actually have a shield but looks nothing like this one and I've not seen this type before. What makes you think its specifically for the Polsten? Its quite different to the more common British Universal single mount but as stated there were Australian variations usually on a flat round base and large balancer springs. The high round pedestal base does seem to scream Naval mounting. Is the 'ladder steel' its sat on part of the mount or is it just from the round pedestal upwards? Carleton
  16. The Tilly Club already mentioned by Ron are a friendly bunch and can assist in putting you in touch with other owners and photos of restorations etc. Carleton
  17. At the weekend a metal file and a penny coin dated 1937 fell out of my Tilly roof. I will incorporate the penny into the dashboard somehow.
  18. pm sent, I have 3 Austin Tilly water pumps, unsure on pricing though.
  19. 99% certain that is a Wolf 90, it has the right rear tub mounting to crossmember arrangement for a wolf chassis and correct rear axle. If its registered as a 2013 that is indeed odd and would need careful checking. Could be a new bitsa. I'm looking for a Wolf 90 if anyone has one.....not at that price though!! :nut:
  20. Looks home made to me using some WW2 parts like axle and hitch, I had something a little similar using angle iron. If you part it out I'd be interested in a few bits. Who knows though could be some rare variant. :wow:
