  1. I've seen it on an RAF Bomb Disposal Spartan. This is getting a bit off topic, but nevermind!
  2. The RAF vehicles (AT and AY registrations) weren't built with the wading screen, but they were built in the early 80s when it was being removed from the rest of them. Chris
  3. Mike, Have you tried buying this stuff? I've had a quick look around and can't see anywhere that sells it. I guess it's due to the hexavalent Chrome, which is not good for you! Chris
  4. Dan, You won't be able to convert it to a diesel, the engine is a Cummins 6BTA but you need to do extensive work to the engine, hull, gearbox, bulkheads, radiator, replace the fan etc etc in order to fit one. I have never seen one of those intakes for sale, I guess you could make one, but I wouldn't bother if I were you. Chris
  5. Dan, It is a diesel and that is the air intake on the side of the hull. The angled bracket running around the hull was for the wading screen, which would have been removed in the 80s. Sometimes the brackets were cut off, sometimes they weren't. Chris
  6. There may be a chance that they were converted to Sabres and sold though Withams, but it would be a slim chance. Less than half the Scorpions were converted to Sabres, and only half the Sabres went to Withams. The record cards don't seem to have much info on them either, they always list the units the vehicle was assigned to, but only occasionally list the operations. Chris
  7. The slave socket is fitted as standard on a Wolf, it's very useful.
  8. Welcome to the forum. Do you have any photos you can post? I'm just down the road from there. Thanks, Chris
  9. This one is at Saumur Museum in France.
  10. I use a Zinc Phospate etch primer on mine, you can get it in red.

  12. You'll need an MK rather than MJ if you want the multifuel engine.

I'm sure the Stormer is wider than 2.55m, are they not around 2.7m?
  14. Mark, There are quite a few ex-RAF CVR(T)s in private hands. I believe Timbo has a Spartan with an AT reg. We have one too, and a Sabre, but I doubt they'll be making it to this show due to not having any transport. Chris
  15. Have you tried a hot air gun and scraper, or maybe a wire brush?
  16. Yes, the powder is expensive, but nowhere near as expensive as the equipment required to spray it! More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_spraying#Plasma_spraying Chris
  17. We often salvage mis-machined and worn parts using these coatings, including parts made from cast iron such as bearing housings etc. Not sure I'd want to do a brake disc or drum though! Metco 447NS 10-133.pdf Metco 450P 10-137.pdf
  18. I just use a large adjustable. As for the size, can you not measure the fitting?

No problems here, everything's been working ok all week. Maybe there has been a forum upgrade and you're all using an older browser etc?
  21. It was missing on the Thursday of the tender when I saw it.
  22. Here's a few more of them. Looks like they are the same size as a Scimitar turret side bin. Chris
  23. Yep that's correct Mick. I replaced it with this: http://www.thetoolboxshop.com/0-727-24-durite-24v-20a-mini-make-and-break-relay-2273-p.asp Looks different, does the same job. Chris
  24. Mick, I replaced my relay with one from the Durite catalogue. Just un screw it and plug another in. I will try and get the number for you today. Chris
