  1. I remember seeing a great quantity of Fox's sitting at the back of Ricardo Diesels of Shoreham about 10 years ago. I saw that they were ALL engineless. This was because I was told by a spoksman there. That they were all awaiting replacement Diesel engines & going to the South African Army. This contract was cancelled & they stayed there for quite a while before disposal. I heard that they ended up at Withams for sell off. (What a suprise!)
  2. Points taken & understood! :cool2: I must say, looking at some of the other stuff they have had up for sale for a VERY long time. That also make a point! :cool2: Not impressed with thier Prices either! :nono: you have to ask yourself a question, dont you? Thier main trade is house Builders. That raises the question enevitably linked with Builders, cowboys, (Indians, Etc) :cool2: Not that for one minuite am I suggesting they are Cowboys!! God Forbid........:coffee:
  3. That Stadium is better employed there for nets, than for watching 22 Grown Adults kicking a Pigs bladder from one end of the field to the other! Mike (ferretfixer)
  4. LEE, B&E BOYES HAVE A FEW FOR SALE. mike. (Ferretfixer)
  5. This is a common problem in Service. I have replaced dozens of them! The usual problem is, it clicks & will not turn the engine over. There is a 'Kidney plate' at the Rear lhs in the interior compartment. If you remove this you can get an arm through & give the starter a 'Smack' with a hammer. I know it sounds crude, but it will usually get you out of trouble. This method will not work for ever. When a starter begins to play up, it is indicative of begining to fail. The heat generated in the engine compartment in a MKII is incredible.! I am suprised that starters last as long as they do! The only real solution to repair it is, a pack lift. When the engine is out, rotate it 180 degrees & drop it in front of the vehicle. When you re-fit your starter. Connect all the hoses Etc back to the vehicle. You cannot connect the exhaust or trans propshaft obviously! make sure trans lever IS in Neutral!! :stop: You can then start the engine pack up & run it. DO NOT RUN FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES!! If you do you risk engine seizure. :nono: It will be loud, but wear ear defenders. :shake: It is then possible to check all hoses Etc for leaks. Better to go over it whilst the pack is out. Rather than have a prob when it's back in! I have done this hundereds of times. It's the only real way to effect a reliable repair. Good luck & I add, I dont envy you! :coffee: Mike (Ferretfixer)
  6. so, the Tapley brake meter WAS faulty!
  7. You put your left leg in, your left leg out & you shake it all about. You do the Hokey Kokey & wave it all about.................. :yay:
  8. Airfix Kits are SO much simpler!
  9. Gee, ....These new Airportable Dodges sure are simple!!
  10. .............I knew I shouldnt' have left that split pin out!
  11. This old chesnut again!!! The Goverment cannot effectively Police criminals. So, we as collectors are easy targets. Target us & it looks like the Lovely Goverment are doing something!! They will not issue a license. They would HAVE to be paid for. Also, you would need a large staff to issue & process these licenses. They cannnot keep up NOW, with the re-issues of shotgun & Firearm renewals!! What I think will happen is, they want ALL deacts welded up solid. So, if you own an old spec, you will be invited to rework it to new spec at YOUR own expense. Re-submit it for new certification at YOUR expense. They cannot ban the ownership of deacts. They would have to compensate you for that. They shot themselves (No pun intended) in the foot over compo with handguns. It cost them millions. With even more deacts in cirulation, it would be cost prohibitive for them to compensate. Who originally offered de-activation as an alternative to compensation? The Government. Are they now saying they were wrong? The Gov NEVER says it's wrong. If THEY wre wrong, they would have to pay out. And they most certainly would NOT pay out again! There may also be some unworkable legislation produced that says along the lines of 'you can sell to registered re-eneactors or bon fida collectors'. similar to the VCR act with Airsoft weapons. It wont work properly, or indeed effectively. As we have all seen with the VCR act. More rules for Police Officers to fail to interpret or understand correctly! This is just more rubbish because the police cannot keep up with Crimnals importing live weapons! There is no doubt that SOME de-acts have been converted. But the number is VERY small. Whatever law is passed, in what ever field. There is ALWAYS going to be someone who breaks the rules & the Law! Mike
  12. ................& that concudes the case for the prosecution M'laud!
  13. It appears your vehicle would have served in B.A.O.R, though with which units, at this stage of your investigation, is not known. s/o BAOR, means :struck off Of the B.A.O.R assets register. I do not know what CR means. Hope this helps. :??? Mike. :coffee:

  15. Your plate would read: SCO 0010. So it looks to be the tenth one off the production line from that hull number! I had a Scorp myself once, & worked on them in the Military so I have a modicum of expirience! nice result! Mike.

  17. It's an other ranks breast eagle. I have been handling, collecting & dealing in Militaria for over 35 years. From the photo, I would say it's a reproduction. Dispite what your friend says! (just MY opinion & expierience) Hope this is of help to you. Mike.
  18. Anything to do with the shaving poll?.................:cool2:
  19. Hello Martin, There are so many people out there making these things. It probably wouldnt be worth the effort. & if your guy is making from Alliuminium, the cost would be huge compared to steel plate. I have made these in the past myself, the time & work involved to make them as reasistic as poss is huge! To that end, the cost would be a lot. Personaly, I would put the extra together & buy a De-Act! Regards: Mike
  20. I remember when I was on my first posting R.E.M.E Attached to 26 Engineer Regt in Germany. These vehicles were in use with the regt for unloading pallets of mines, Field engineering equipment Etc. They even went out on Excercises with them! I recall being very UN-enviable when we always deployed in the field for three weeks at a time on the Annual Major Manouvers. Also always in november! Observing the drivers of these vehicles in a green waterproof jacket & Motorbike crash helmet. It was freezing & bad enough driving 432's & 434's! I felt sorry for those guys. It must have been bone chilling! Then I used to think, hey, if you cant take a joke, you shouldnt have joined!........:cool2:
  21. I agree with Lee, no choices. Please specify, legs or face................:cool2: We used ti also shave our KF shirts from new in the Army. KF = Khaki Flannel We used to call them, shirts, itchy, blanket! :-X
