Pacific Car & Foundry M26 Dragon Wagon. US Army 'Armoured Tank Recovery Unit. The american army developed this vehicle for battlefield recovery of disabled tanks, hence the armoured plating that protected the crew. Apart from the one operating the winch!! The only drawback with these vehicles was the rather thirsty Hall Scott 440 6cyl 17.8litre 230hp petrol engine, rated as consuming 2 litres per kilometre... This scarpyard at La Calmette, 30kms north of Nimes has 8 in various conditions in its grounds. This one fairly complete, but none are for sale! Taken from www.travellerdave.co.uk

As a 23 year old military nut, my sanity is often questioned, "why don't you get yourself a nice little car"! I love everything about my Austin, driving it, rallying it, talking about it and looking after it. In todays throw away socity, I suppose it is a bit weird to the masses.

Picture of the Pigs and trailers was posted on the Austin K series gallery in British vehicles. Its a great picture innit! Thanks for those measurements Ian. We borrowed a lighting board, had a quick check over of the trailer and then pulled it home. I couldn't believe how big it is! Apparently, it was bought at an auction with two Bedford trucks in 1962 and wasn't used since. It still has a plate with its military registration number. I plan on restoring it and taking to rallies behind the K9.

Ian, that's great. Bloomin' 'eck, They are big arnt they?! :shocked::-D I don't think mine has any hoops, but I have a pipe bender so I may trouble you for some measurements when I get round to that. Thanks again.

Anyone any general info or pictures? Mine is getting delivered tomorrow! I think it'll look awesome behind my Austin K9. The one I've got is on 9.00x20 tyres, and I think it's the 1 1/2 ton version. Thanks
