surely your breaching their human rights taking pictures without consent?!?!?!? i personally would use a trip wire with blank shotgun cartridges, or at least i thought they were blanks officer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. i had a problem with the GTB fuel gauge, it worked ok when i built the tank but since has been showing less and less in tank eventually nothing, even after hosing £50 in, so i whipped the tank off today and guess what i found....... the cork float on the sender arm was sitting on the bottom of the tank?!?!?!?!?!? under 6 inches of fuel! so what has caused the cork to sink? it was very heavy when i removed it, i tried it in fuel can and it went down like a stone! i changed the cork float for a plastic one from a ZIL and bobs your uncle, gauge reading fine again. the sender unit is a Jeep repro unit by the way.
  5. very nice project you got there, and even nicer workshop. look forward to seeing the progress.
  6. i have only take the GTB to three shows now, and at every one it gets pointed out to me that i haven't knocked the dents out of the front wings! funny i hadn't noticed!! cant wait to get the RNZAF markings on it...... and yes i know the markings on my Jeep are post war!!!! Aaargghhhh!
  7. crikey, i best have a dig up in my shed i got loads of them! could make a fortune!!
  8. took the GTB out to day to stretch her legs a bit to collect some logs, before the rain sets in for the summer! work on the troop seats and hood bows is continuing at a slow pace. Spare wheel mount and cab bows painted and fitted.
  9. QUICK!!! Phone the Jeep police!!! its not perfect:nut: next your be telling me its not 101st Airbourne?!?!?:rotfl:

  12. that rings a bell, do they have a website? Thanks
  13. A couple of people mentioned about an armoured convoy in normandy september this year, but A, i cant for the life of me remember who told me about it B, cant find anything about it on line. so anyone else heard of this or was i dreaming?
  14. hopefully will be there as well, want to go in the GTB. will probably be staying at the campsite middle of mons. it truly is an amazing weekend.
  15. the original film was on one of the BBC channels a while ago and the dogs name had been overdubbed as "Blackie" !!! then it was on channel 5 unchanged. which reminds me, i have not seen blazing saddles on recently! :nut:
  16. well after a great overlord show work continues on the GTB Spare wheel mount made, modified LWB GMC mount. got it in there in the end the fit is very tight under the body. Second windscreen repaired and fitted for now, i am going to make two new windscreens out of ally some time soon wipers fitted along with vacuum pipes work has started on the cab hood bows, just made two of the corner pieces today. all wood and metal ordered to make the rear troop seats and hood bows, even got NOS hood bow Corners:D:D
  17. driving from Portsmouth is only about 3 to 3.5 hours in a jeep, i have found the best way is along the A272 most of the way, nice road for a jeep. we will be doing some transporting of vehicles to and from Beltring if you want to trailer it give me ring 07747466296
  18. i have 6 vehicles with 5 named driver for £225, bargain me thinks:D
  19. Wow that will be a trip and sight to see, i am planning on taking my GTB to Mons, maybe i'll tag on the convoy, keeping up shouldn't be a problem!
  20. Put the release fork in before fitting the rest of the components, that way if you have any problems it only takes a minute to whip the box back out and sort it. one thing at a time then move on to the next bit.
  21. We had a fantastic weekend, really impressed with the team that do all the organising to make the show happen they really have done a great job, thanks. the new show ground is perfect and even the weather held out for us this year, looking forward to next year already. i was truly surprised with the numbers of large MV's that rolled in considering the £££££ of fuel these days, it hurt just bringing the DAF DROPS from Farnham!
  22. Loosen the 4 bolts (or put longer ones in) that hold the gearbox to the bell housing and slide the box back on them a bit, its not much but it allows a little more room to maneuver the fork into place (especially if you have sausage fingers like me!) i also have a bent piece of steel that holds the release bearing forward. then go in doors, have a cuppa, relax and try again! i have found that there a few different makes of forks, some are much beefier than others and these can be a real a**e ache to get in. good luck
  23. More importantly how many beer tents are booked in?
  24. did a 30 mile round trip to collect a tent in the GTB last night, it really is a great truck to drive very easy to throw around and goes along very well (empty!), well and truly chuffed:D
