  1. Sam; I have been very fortunate with members of this board and the G503 helping me out on parts. The tow bar weighs 200lbs. Once I put it on the boom, I think it will stay there. I have sourced the correct work lights for the WLF, and I am in the process of restoring them as I was already working on the work lights for my Diamond T. I came across a few air brake diaphrams, so if you need the front ones let me know. Now if I can just get me neighbor to move his 1917 Model T out of my shop, I can get back to working on my Diamond T. Happy New Year. John
  2. Outstanding, thanks for sharing. John G
  3. I have provided a link to a company that I got several parts from along with the reproduction seat parts. I made my own pins and I fixed the bushings. Engine parts are very hard to come by and most sheet metal that is available is in poor shape. The track pads are specific to this machine along with the track rollers. http://www.syltech.net/mission.htm John Gott
  4. David; You are correct on the amount decals you need, as my DiamondT 969 needs 2 oil filters decal sets. As far as color goes, the filter canisters are painted semi gloss black, the air cleaner(s) are painted semi gloss black. The eingine ??? mine was originally painted grey and then OD. I saw one recently in a 981 that had HERCULES that was painted grey. The breather decal is correct for the RXC engine, I do not know if you need one the dieel engine. John
  5. Hi Harper; It was me who had them made up. I should have more in stock next week. PM me and leave your email if you are interested. John Gott
  6. This looks like a alot of fun......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=On6M8IC1K-Q John Gott
  7. Sam; The 969 has been on the backburner since the Spring as I had promised my son to get the Ward in reliable operational status, which has been done. The record heat this summer has brought everything to a halt. I am going to jump back into the 969 project and finish it and with good discipline, I won't touch the Ward until I am done with the 969. However, I have been collecting assorted bits for the Ward, the right towbar, NOS tow cable, NOS Speedometer, the correct temp gauge, ROSS horn button and assorted seals. Most items were acquired with the help of members of this board. With that said, my sons football season has started with practice 5 nights a week, son that will take up my time thru November. I was wondering what had happened to you since you had not posted in awhile. Nice thread on the G503 on your "play date" with your Kenworth, very impressive. John Gott
  8. Adrian; Your parts are now in stock. Email me please. John Gott
  9. Adrain; for some reason my sent folder does not show that I sent you a message. So I will post here, jbgott at verizon dot net John
  10. Adrian; PM sent with my email address. John
  11. Adrian; I can get you am NOS set if you need them. Send me a PM for details John
  12. Adrian; The wiper arm is a "Grasshoper design". When I get home, I will remind myself to take a photo and post it for you. This design is essential as the wiper motor is "Fixed" to the cab, and the windshield pivots outward. It is the same design as used on the GMC/Chevy and probably others. John Gott
  13. Tomorrow we load up to go to the East Coast Military Ralley at Aberdeen, Maryland. My son is looking forward to riding "shotgun" with my friend Eric who will be transporting the truck on his tractor trailer. I just have one more air leak (slight) on the exhaust valve on the brake acuator valve to tend to. I had to replace the diaphrams on the front rear drive axle, as they had cracked. Sorry, no pictures of the overhaul on the brake chambers as I was pressed for time. The Danish military had added some brake valves (relays) that are in line with the rear glad hand connections. After much consultation, it was dtermined that they control the glad hands to the extent that you do not need to close the petcocks when not in use (maybe they encountered a problem when towing and somebody forgot to open the petcocks), Anyways, the valves were leaking do to a lack of service, so after taking them apart and giving them a good cleaing, all is well. Orginally, I could barely keep 70 pounds of air pressure witht the engine running, now, I am happy to report, the gauge goes up to 110 pounds of pressure, you can hear the govenor kick in and the unloader valves open on the compressor. The pressure drops to 100 pounds, valves close and it builds back up to 110 punds and repeats the cycle all over again:D:D When we get back from the show, I will post pictures. John Gott
  14. :beer:Absolutely brilliant . Well done. John G
  15. It is amazing what "fresh" oil will do for your oil pressure reading. My gauge was maybe reading 5 pounds. So further investigation revealed that oil was going to the gauge ( that was good). I replaced the line as the original had seen better days. So after bringing the engine up to operating temp, the oil was drained. What an ugly black mess.....Fresh oil brought the reading up to 30 psi and after cleaning about an inch of sludge out of each filter canister, the pressure reading came up to 40 psi. I am happy to report that my first water pump rebuild has resulted in no leaks at the packing gland.:wow: The continental starts right up and runs like a swiss watch. This truck drinks fuel, at the rate of about 3-4 gallons per 20 minutes. It does not matter if it is idling or at operating speed. So now I know why you guys do those diesel conversions. John Gott
  16. I have now uploaded photos that were taken on the production line of the 969A and 980/981. A massive operation. The photos are self explanatory. John G
  17. Mike; try Jerry Biro HERCANO Propolsion in Ohio, US phone 740-745-2475 John Gott
  18. While I am finishing up on the Diamond T, I am also trying to make the Ward readily operational. So the fuel pump was sent out the rebuilders, a new fuel filter was sourced and the waterpump was rebuilt. New gaskets for the carb and intake manifold were sourced from Olson's Gaskets. I had to removed the intake/exhaust manifold as I had broken off the 2 studs that hold one of the air cleaner pipes to the exhaust manifold. That fuel pump was a bear to put back in, as any of you who have a WLF or Diamond T for that matter know it is a tight fit next to the Ross steering gear. I had new battery cables made up since mine were a mess. I will be using a 5 gallon fuel can temporarily until I cleanout the saddle tanks. This ethonal fuel reaaly makes a mess of things. The pictures are self explanantory. John Gott
  19. The latest "rubber" (actually polyurethane) showed up today from Bodie Cummings (BC Products Company located in Wakarusa, Kansas, USA. ph.785-862-1162) Bodie used my headlight bases as a pattern to fabricate new base pads and I sent my clutch and brake pedals to him to have new "covers" installed. These pedal pads are the same on all model lines of WWII Diamond T trucks, however, the headlight bases are specific to the 967,968,969 and 970, sorry Adrian, yours are differant on the 980/981. Tech tep for those who are replacing there clutches, if you are installing a new friction disc, make sure you use 8 shims at the six points provided. Each shim is .016" thick but it makes the plate move 7/64 of an inch by the lever action of the pressure plate. The rebuilder who did mine only installed 7 shims and we could not figure out why the clutch would not disengage. So out with he tranny again, and after some discussion, and reading the tech manual again, we counted the shims, found the error and installed 9 shims, ( I am lucky I kept my old shims, note to self, do not throw anything away) Now I have an operable clutch. John Gott
  20. Try Olson's gaskets or Jobbers Supply in Philedelphia , PA, they both should have all the gaskets you need. John Gott
  21. Adrian; Do you plan on doing any "detail" work in the engine compartment? John
