  1. The leaf springs had to be rebuilt, as they were broken. A NOS carb and govenor were installed. The hydralic cylinders were rebuilt, using modern seals, but they the cylinders look original on the outside. the last few pics are of my son this past Spring "playing" with his dozer at the Tuckhoe Gas and Steam show in Easton, Maryland.
  2. I got this dozer 2 years ago. All new sheetmetal was fabricated for it, and the only "original piece" left was the radiator shroud. The dozer was was stripped down to the frame. The final drive was rebuilt and the forward and reverse clutches were repaired. The tracks were repaired. Alot of "farm engineering" had to be removed. I am currently working on rebuilding teh Braden winch. John Gott
  3. Thierry; I will be stopping by the metal fabrication place I use this week to give them dimensions for the metal I need for the cab. I got my data plates from "Lt Horne" that is his ebay id, he is located in Poland. He does great work, and I paid alot less than if I had them reproduced
  4. After I started stripping the cab and making some repairs to the left front cab mount, I started toying with the idea of seperating the firewall (cowl) from the cab. After much thought , I decided to go ahead and do it. Well to say the least, I am glad I did, as more rust was found, incidently, the 2 rear cab mount bolts were rusted in half. Pictures are attached.The next phase is to clean up the rust, make the neccesary repairs to the sheet metal, and soad blast the cab. John Gott

  6. -Data plates uncovered under 5 layers of paint on the frame, I think it actually "saved" them. -HOLMES data plate -firewall work, should have waited until I remove the cab, oh well you learn -New "floor " to battery box -The new shop before I moved everything in:)
  7. -Thes are differant before and after, took off 5 layers of paint off the toe board -Repair to the frame the front winch -new brackrets for the tow bar (they were missing) old battery box floor

The first bay houses a 1955 Pontiac Chieftain on the top part of the ROTARY 4 post lift and a 1965 Ford Mustang GT conv below it, Center bay is for teh Diamond T and the last Bay is for teh Chevy, The Chevy is actually a 1940 Cargo dump , but when I started the resto on it I was working on a 1942, out of the 2, I made one More pics on the Diamond T to follow

  10. some more pictures The wrecker bed will be removed along with the cab so that the frame can be soda blasted. -The front fenders have been repaired -the battery box had a new bottom put in -The cab interior has been stipped -repairs to the left brace leg and front winch have been completed -A new bracket was made for the tow barn -all fluids have been changed she runs, well, ran great before the teardown. A valve job was completed before I bought her John Gott

I am getting ready to remove my cab, and I read the TM on the procedure to removed the horn button (so that I can remove the steering wheel). the TM states" turn the button so that it unlocks from the tabs" well gents, I tried and it did not work. Any suggestions/help is appreciated. John Gott

  14. I am in the process of removing the wrecker bed on my 969A, so that the underside of the bed and the frame can be soda blasted. I have read through all of TTM threads/post on his WLF rear bogie removal. I am wondering, if it would not have been easier to remove the bed then remove the bogie assembly. Once my bed is removed, I will have clear access to my reduction units, no cross members will be in the way as far as I can see. I also plan on replacing the oil seals during this time. Any thoughts on this.:idea: Thnaks John Gott
  15. I will take my closed cab Diamond T any day over an open cab:-D. I own a 1942 Diamond T 969A, serial numer 969A-0878. I looked into buying a 1944 Ward and was surprised at the differnace in room between the 2 cabs, with te Ward being "tighter". Anyway the Ward needed a clutch and the front winch was non-operable, nothing that could not be fixed however the Ward would not fit into my shop. one plus for the Ward, well make that 2, is; its shear size:shocked: an it has a higher top speed than the Dimaond T just my 2 cents John Gott
