  1. I have started this thread to cover 1/76 scale models of softskin vehicles which can be from 1900 to the present and any type of non armoured model you like to contribute. If know one else starts it i can put up a thread to cover the armoured items in this scale. But to hell with it why stop there lets in a while have one for 1/48 and 1/35 and one for even larger models, plenty of room in this board, so to start a Dodge VK62 from Milicast, Ford WOT 15cwt from MMS and a Bedford QLT in metal from the now long gone company of Custom Miniatures, just to digress slightly i have noted in the past some of the high prices these custom kits seem to fetch on E Bay cheers Les
  2. Those phots were certainly the berlin air lift, the wreck recovery was one that unfortunatly failed to make it
  3. After a bit of digging i think that mystery truck is a Duplex supplied in the 1930s to carry searchlights
  4. Well done Tony i remember seeing those long ago during one of our meet ups, heres a few Kenworths to help get your thread on the move cheers Les
  5. As some of you will be aware last year i ran a series of articles in MMI on machinery trucks and think it might be a good idea to put some of the photos and info up here which will include some not seen in the mag. Obviously because of size restrictions some photos in the mag end up on the small side so those on here will give a better definition on detail and of course i hope some of you will be able to contribute items. In this thread it will be the British and canadian types but if interests is sufficient i could put the same up in the American vehicles thread photos 1 a pre war Crossley IGL before fitment of machinery 2 Leyland Retriever battery charging 3 Ford WOT6 3 ton 4x4 To digress, the Ford WOT is seen in the London Victory parade now as most will know this parade was a massive affair and in the mechanical section every organization that used vehicles was represented but it would appear little has been published on some of the vehicles that took part. We see the normal run of tanks and the occasional truck photo but not much of the latter appears in the photos, i have scoured the web and come up with various items but still nothing really that covers my train of thought. Any body out there had any luck cheers Les
  6. Waterloo iron works, a rare book to find now been out of print for years. It covers taskers from the early days through the steam era and on to many of the various types of trailer inluding a 9 page pargraph on the QM and then on to a trailer called the 6 ton easy load developed from the QM. I am starting to unload some of my collection and have a mint copy of the said book to sell, if interested PM me but bare in mind it is a collectable book now
  7. Some cracking photos of these on the Life web site samples attached
  8. I have had this photo for around 30 years a still do not know its make or purpose, I have to admit its been sitting in a file for god knows how long after i failed to get some positive i.d when i first had it. Its dated around 1941-2 period but i think it was designed amd probably built in the late 1930s by the old artillery wheels used, note the suport bracket above the front axle. It is certaily a military item as i remember copying it from a WW2 album of military trailers. So any ideas
  9. Not my scene but some of you are into the modern throbbers so here are some photos of the M1008 and M1009
  10. Another photo for some ripe captions to start, now hear this, YOU WILL HEAR THIS
  11. Hmmmm ive got a civilian Austin K2 and again its nibbly round the windscreen surrounds, maybe a good idea to look into a batch of brass frames
  12. great photos gary, any chance they could be larger as individual photos so we can see details and markings clearer, failing that have you thought of scanning the vehicle photos in high res and putting them on a disc to sell i am sure there will be loads of customers
  13. Seen it all now, morris quad towing a 5.5 gun and to top it a sherman up to the same antics. Both photos taken at Anzio, bet that made the morris grunt

  20. More of the Cadman 4 and a restored transporter in Holland
  21. That Dragon in Ivors photo it has a very unusual superstructure i wonder if this was some form of experimental vehicle put together in Iraq
  22. Hooray, believe it or not just turned the computer on and up flashed a update for adobie at last i can now take a look at the films
  23. Certainly is the old Caffyns pioneer, the guy who restored her has done a fine job but the radiator grilles are not quite right, not his fault as i understand he was working blind with no reference photos this has now been rectified and a friend who used to be a manager at the Folkestone depot has sent on photos to him that i supplied. The recovery truck was built in the workshops at Folkestone and served at east bourne the photo shows it just out of the workshop for a photo call. the second photo should be in the Explorer thread but i think better placed here as it is also Caffyns of Eastbourne
  24. Ivor Good to see a photo of the Crossley streamline fire tender in action thanks for sharing
