  1. Hi all, Time to introduce myself. My name is Chris and I'm retired and living in Norfolk U.K. I'm mainly interested in old motorcycles and have 6 mostly British machines dating from 1936 to 196o. As far as military connections go, I have a 1964 Triumph TRW and my latest acquisition....a 1936 German moped made in Chemnitz by Presto. It has 98cc Sachs engine and is almost 100% complete. If the numberplate is correct it was used by the Wehrmacht in Konigsberg in WW2. I understand they were also used by the Hitler Youth as messenger bikes particularly on airfields. A unit insignia has been found on the tank comprising a shield with an upward winged lightning bolt.Signals? Luftwaffe? Perhaps a forum member has knowledge of such a symbol............... Chris
  2. Just to say hello to all. I'm a retiree from Norfolk who is interested in most things mechanical but in particular old motorbikes and cars. Just become the owner of a 1964 mark 3 TRW in fairly good condition despite being off the road for many years. Some fairly intensive re-commissioning will be required I think. I'm already indebted to the forum in helping me establish what the paint colour is, and I'm sure I will get more info over time. In the 60's I was an RAF photographer and while in Germany used to drive a Magirus Deutz water bowser with generator trailer as part of my non photo duties on a MFPU. Mobile Field Photographic Unit for the uninitiated! Great fun. Driving in convoy around Holland France and Germany With a motorcycle escort. Best wishes to all. Chris.
