This is how I understand it, it now has an engine in - the original one. But its beyond repair... I was explained the technical aspects but did not understand, something about frost-bite.

Watch this space for more pictures, but its not a runner, the Jagdpanther is closer to being a runner :)

BTW... there are more Panthers, just been told, got to write some emails to various parties, so details to follow.

Edited: Hope this is a better format, have been sending around emails like crazy in order to confirm an extra 3! running Panther tanks.

So here we are, a run down on what different WW2 German armour we have in the different countries:

  • DE - 9 - Germany
  • FR - 8 - France
  • UK - 8 - United Kingdom
  • CH - 7 - Switzerland
  • US - 6 - United States
  • RU - 3 - Russia
  • FI - 3 - Finland
  • CZ - 3 - Czech
  • LU - 1 - Luxembourg
  • SE - 1 - Sweden
  • DK - 1 - Denmark

So Germany - France have the most armour split between them. However the UK is only one behind.

I always thought a Jagd 38(T) WAS a Hetzer?

The Hetzer was based on the orignal 38(T) chassis, right?

I reckon we are lacking on the PzIV front, there must be more running than that, after all they were still current at the end of the war and used up until the late 60's in the middle east. Perhaps people haven't put the same effort in as the rare heavies.

NB: Add 1 to the JagdPzIV list Ref: Pathfinder Issue 1, in Poland, if you check out the Polish web site they have photos of test running the engine. I always get a bit lost with these Jagd versions, as there is a StuG style PzIV and the later sloped glacias version, was that the Gudarian(sp?) Duck?

Yeah not sure how I managed to do that :D

But I have changed it around, Hetzer was a JAGD 38(T).

I am getting more and more feedback from PM's etc on the list. Thus more and more vehicles are been added.

I think their is a Panzer 4, but I need some sort of evidence.

Niels, that is the best 'weathered' vehicle I have ever seen, the Bov Tiger I was good before the restoration but that PzIII is a cracker, looks like it was driven into a wearhouse in 45 and wheeled out for the photo 40-50 years later!

There is a running Pz IIIN in Denmark, its own by the Royal Arms museum, but as been in storage for a lot of years now.

I am looking into this Panzer IIIN, thanks for the contributions. As I assume you speak Danish, maybe you could drop the museum a line just to confirm that its still in running order.

Updated what CENTI game me.

Who owns the JagdPzIV in Pathfinder then?

Well that is because it was driven into a wearhouse in 45, and the 40 years after wheeled out, sadly they have repainted it now, and hidden it. Sorry they are not willing to give any infomation about it, But one of my friends worked on it for a short while when they got it driving agian.

The arms museum is not interessed in vehicles and preserving them. they also had a running sd.kfz 251 that they left outside, wich resulted in crack engine block

There was a WW2 Tiger tank (don't know model other than it was huge with wide tracks from memory) in the collection at RMSC Shrivenham along with some other tanks, was a few years ago when I studied there on my Engineering degree. The Tiger was definately a non runner but the guy who showed us round reckoned it was rather a rare beast. Don't know if it is still located there or was moved elsewhere.

That Tiger 1 is a replica, EXACT 1:1 replica bar the drive train, I believe it has a Merc V8 powering a Hydraulic pump, the track drive is via hydraulic motors. It won't sound like a Tiger :-)
