Willyslancs Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 These two pictures taken in 1986(ish) show markings under the paint of our Jeep. The lot number is from 1947 when the last owner bought it at auction in Scotland ,but can anyone tell me why it would have the word "UTILITIES" under the screen? I was informed when they bought it , it never came with a back seat. Maybe it was used for just carrying stuff round the base where it was stationed ....... any ideas?:coffee: Quote
Tony B Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Might it have had some civillian life? Utitlities is the normally the US term for gas , electric, water services. Quote
Willyslancs Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 The old couple i bought it off were the first civilian owners in 1947, before that it was still in government use ..... Quote
Bodge Deep Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Would that be old couple or erm... "odd couple" Quote
gazzaw Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Some bases/units had their own utilities section working under the QM section to maintain and repair infrastructure and install and upkeep utilities like power and drainage and such like, maybe this was the camp run around hence no back seat for carrying tools and eqpt just my twopence worth Gary Quote
