Brooky
A subject not explored on here (to my knowledge!) Is wartime advertising using military vehicles. Ones that spring to mind are the "I am the........." series released by the motor industry and also the wartime Bedford advertising still promoting a 50% overload. (what would the man from VOSA say!!) To start the ball rolling three from Morris Commercial. What is interesting is that the vehicles are early wartime (CS8 PU8 and CDSW) but the adverts come from 1944. Are there any more out there? morris 1.pdf morris 2.pdf morris 3.pdf
gritineye
That's a good idea Brooky, interesting stuff!
Brooky
The adverts really sum up the era. Drivers who have been in HM pay might become the haulage contractors of the future. So why not play on that
Richard Farrant
Drivers who have been in HM pay might become the haulage contractors of the future. And that was quite true, many firms started that way and using army surplus lorries.
79x100
The component manufacturers also made much of their part in the war effort. Dunlop :- Ferodo:- KLG:- Lodge :- Wonderful period stuff (anyone up for any more ?)

79x100
This is the only 'colour' that I could find in Norton's advertising - A Big 4 outfit doing its bit 'up country' ...and with a bare-breasted maiden in the background. Imagine what that did to poor DRs if the bromide ran out !
fv1609
Good idea we did this before .lost in the crash. Yes but it wasn't specifically wartime. I had a few I was going to post, here is one from 1947.

Kuno
@ les freathy; the Armstrong Siddeley Recce Car looks like it would be a copy of the Italian Breda tractors - or maybe it was the other way round...
