Took a trip yesterday on my local railways Santa Special, noticed a poster in the cafe, re Mil Veh w/e Aug 2008.

I am sure there is somebody on this forum lives somewhere near you Baz: I suspect he did a write-up on this year's War on the Line.

 

When I was there a couple of years ago, I drove up Weardale heading for the lead mine at Killhope and took a detour into one of the villages to find an immacualately-kept Weardale Railway (or something). Except it was like the grave.

 

ISTR they had a cash crisis for a couple of weeks and just my luck ...

Its the same line, they've had an injection of capitol and are running a mall length of line between Wolsingham and Stanhope.

'War on the Line', yes, that's us in the MVT(NE) in conjunction with the railway.

Useless information for the day ........my mum comes from Wearhead & Grandad was a farmer and miner there until they emigrated down south with many other local families to build Abberton reservoir

Just a reminder that the War on the Line event is this weekend ( Aug 2/3 ) at Weardale Railway. I'm heading off there shortly, so if you are going, keep your eyes open for Jessie the Jeep.
