Tony B
Is the idea any opposing tank crew laugh so much they crash? I notice the poor little thing has wet itself.

abn deuce
Not much of a saddle , but if anyone cut in front of you on the road , well you might be tempted wouldnt you ....just once ?. I wonder how many hit vehicles in front of them with that barrel !
abn deuce
You are Wicked. I m sure they are not that Bad !. It is a unique combination that I have never seen done in any other country , yet . its hard to imagine seeing a number of these motoring down the road in a military exercise trying to be all business. Were these in fact ever mass produced or was this a one off test vehicle ?
Tony B
Just think of the off road performance down a slope, the Vespa pole vault team.
woa2
They're Italian. What difference does the length of the barrel make. They'd still hit everthing in front of them!! I had a Coach holiday in Italy a few years ago, and witnessed Italian Drivers trying to overtake the coach on a blide bend on a mountain road heading for Monte Cassino. We also had a ride in an Italian bus for a rew miles - Never doing that again! As for the Vespa, I believe it was part of a 3 scooter team, one with the gun and 2 to carry the ammo, and the gun was used dismounted. Anyone verify this? andreadavide
Sorry to disappoint everyone. The antitank Vespa was made by the French branch of Piaggio and adopted by the French army. The Italian army has always had the commonsense of avoiding Vespas There is one on display at the Piaggio museum near Pisa. I'll post a pic ASAP. abn deuce
I can add a little bit to the story of the Vespa that its listed as "Scooter Parachutable Vespa 1950 ,small scooter w/shield and recoilless rifle, driver saddle above weapon 5'8"x3'3"x3'5" " this according to the Encyclopedia of armoured cars.
