narune
Hi guys, We got the pack lifted out over the weekend to see where the oil leak was coming from to discover all the oil was being blown out the exhaust and I have been told it is either a rebuild or a new pack. Little p****d off as I have only had her for 2 weeks to find she is dead and no response from the seller! Anybody know of a pack up for sale? cheers, Ian, Edited April 5, 2021 by narune Upload pics
MIKES
Being a 2 stroke diesel, assume that it is probably worn or broken rings causing the oil to be blown out the exhaust. Sounds like a rebuild would be the most economical way to proceed if you can get parts easily. Failing this, have you tried Jacksons at Doncaster? Might have to sell your sole to buy one though. eddy8men
i recently bought six packs and may be able to help out if you can wait a while
andym
The most common issue with an oily exhaust on the K60 is failed seals in the scavenge blower rather than problems with the engine internals themselves. That said, I'd be interested to know if anyone has ever rebuilt a K60 as I've never seen any parts to do so. Andy
attleej
My understanding is that whereas the REME would rebuild the packs, they would just change the whole K60 engine without messing about with it if anything was wrong with it internally. Presumably they were rebuilt by Rolls Royce Specialist Engines. John

One of my K60s carries a rebuild plate from RR Specialist Engines with an address that now appears to be a Bentley dealership! Andy

On one of my visits to the BAEE defence trade shows at Aldershot (1990's), RR Specialist Engines had a stand, I picked up a brochure on there service support and overhauling, page shown here with a 432, and a CET steering unit. On the stand was a K60 with a turbocharger.
andym
Ah - the fabled K60T! There's a report in the Bovington library that looked at an upgrade for the FV432, long before Bulldog came along. It would have used the K60T with an upgraded steering box to allow neutral turns. I don't think the K60T ever went any further than a concept demonstrator. narune
I was told that there are different types of blowers, is that right? also, can you ping me with what your thinking of price wise please?
diesel1
I'm very sure the blowers are all the same, if it didn't fit you could send it back, I've had a think, maybe need to be keeping the engine regards andrew

narune
Thanks Ian..and Andrew. That being the case the bellows is shot so at minimum, I need to replace that, clean up the pack, put her back in and run her up to temp and see if that resolves the issues, anybody got a bellows? antoin35
Hi all, I believe I have a similar problem as Narune. No oil in the exhaust but does smoke like a train when it's under load. Does anyone know the make and model of the blower? Diesel1 spoke of seals, does that mean that the blower can be rebuild?
