The story runs form pre war Hongkong to the end of World War 2. It is not a shoot 'em up action manual of firearms and equipment, instead the book goes into the social conditions and tension of life in France under Occupation. The carachters, including Airey Neave, are well drawn and the authors style keeps up a slow tension putting in the stress of such situations. Historical facts are well researched and a lot of information is gained by osmosis. If anyone is looking for a serious read on the long winters nights, I would recommend this one.
