MartinN Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 I have a Daimler dingo mk2. What is the correct modern spark plug for it? Quote
naaficook Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 (edited) Do you want the screened ones or the un-screened type? Found a army reference list for spark plugs. Listed below is a part of that list that discribes the screened sparkplugs, including measurements and the "civilian" names of the products. I've listed TABLE 1(b) below, that deals with the screened plugs suitable for Dingo's. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- M.o.D. "Defence Standard" 29-2 (sept. 1974) regarding PLUGS, SPARKING (NON AIRCRAFT). MartinN Posted April 23, 2018 Author Posted April 23, 2018 Thanks for the information. Do you know the modern unscreened plug that works best. I have been told I need a modern plug which is hotter. Quote
REME 245 Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 I asked the Green Spark Company and they recommended a Plug. Unfortunately I do not have them here to confirm the type. http://www.gsparkplug.com/ Quote

fv1609 Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 There is some coverage on screened sparking plugs from page 43 onwards http://hmvf.co.uk/topic/34113-bright-sparks-latest-update/ Quote
MartinN Posted May 21, 2018 Author Posted May 21, 2018 The problem I am having is the spark plugs oil up. It was suggested a modern plug which burned hotter would at least in part solve the problem. Does not have to be a screened plug. When I take it on a long journey no problem. It's the short journeys which seem to cause the trouble. Quote
monty2 Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 is there not something else wrong why they get oiled?? Quote
REME 245 Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 As per my first post I have now fitted electronic ignition and conventional leads and plugs to my DAC. The Green Spark Plug Company advised which conventional plug to use but obviously the code on any spark plug tellsyou its size, length and optmum temperarture range. If it is oil rather than the products of combustion you have problems. Quote
