Surveyor
I am trying to wire the mount does any one know how to get the top off apart from brute force to access the connections?

Surveyor
The connection is on the bottom..? The wires go up to roughly were the rubber fitting is and I assume to the metal upstand where the copper aerial fits in
David Ives
had the bnc fitting been removed then if only wires going up if so then get another bnc and solder that onto wires
ArtistsRifles
If the BNC connector has been removed from the underside (go alone knows why anyone would want to do that) it might be easier to get another one off of evilbay. That type - No 31 Mk 6 - is the most common seen there.
g0ozs
The actual antenna clamp tube is moulded in to the rubber body of the mount - if you look up through the bottom you will find that the inside end of the tube is tapped and the antenna connection (either to a wire for HF radio or to a short flying lead from the cylindrical base adapter with BNC for VHF) was secured by a bolt - there was even a special box spanner for reaching inside to install the bold although an ordinary box spanner or nut driver would do as well. Surveyor
Having got around to looking a bit more closely at the connection, I tried a pair of long nose pliers, a gentle twist and they came apart, now to clean the rust and flaking paint off
