Hi guys

Struggling to find a replacement for my faulty CAV control box so have been looking at the possibility of fitting a Dynamator. Has anyone done this on an MW or similar or does anyone have any thoughts on it?

Thanks

Richard

The electrician I used has converted many of these CAV units for me, to a later control box by transferring internals. He then sets the box up to the dynamo on a test rig. Sadly he is not available to take on work now, but any good auto electrician could do this.

Thanks Nick, that certainly looks like a really good possibility? May even fit inside the housing of the original CAV control box? Does anyone know the exact make and model of an MW dynamo? I believe mines an original. Thanks Richard.

Hi,

Chris Morter has reconditioned control boxes fitted with modern internals available off the shelf for around £100 exchange. If the dynamo is the same as on the OX it is a CAV one, but not sure of the exact model.

Regards,

Mike

Hi Mike,

You are correct!! John Mortor does them £105 plus the old unit in exchange.

Only difference is that it needs to be wired Negative earth.

From the outside they are original CAV's, but have modern internals.

Perfect solution.....thanks for the heads up.

Cheers

Richard,

Negative Earth is correct for a Bedford MW anyway.
