chaparral
Hi all, I'm quite impressed by the projects shared by HMVF members. I don't have any such projects to share. Yet thanks to a friend, I sometimes serve as a mechanic's assistant or helper in his mechanical adventures. As I briefly mentioned in my profile, I'm more inclined to fuss with a computer. Despite my inclinations, I've helped work on a bulldozer, a backhoe and a tractor. (And a few older cars and pickups.) What brought me to HMVF was that my friend bought a Saracen MK6 and I was searching for posts about the work others have done. A few searches turned up quite a few Saracen projects here on HMVF. I haven't yet seen my friend's Saracen, we've discussed it by phone pretty often, so far I've been gathering information for my friend. Except for the preselect transmission, his Saracen seems to be mechanically sound. My opinion is that it hasn't been maintained. Lots of seals to replace, lots of cleaning. Steering needed to be rebuilt and reassembled as the two front wheels were inclined to point in different directions. Rebuilt the high pressure accumulators, but they haven't been recharged yet. Well, lots to do ... I guess I'm saying too much about a project in the intro section. Hope everyone is busy enjoying their projects! chaparral (Dave) Edited August 17, 2015 by chaparral preselect transmission - not preset trans... Starfire
Hi Dave, If you haven't already, get your hands on all the manuals. They make a big difference and aren't too hard to find. Also, we'll need pics and details of its identity and history
