ackack
Has anyone seen the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge, Scotland. A very moving situation, you can imagine the conditions they had to train in!

ackack
Here is the one at Spean Bridge on a "fine day", usually it is very wet and windswept when I am there. I have some pix showing the surrounding countryside but can't find them at the moment.
hardyferret
Went up there 20 yr ago, and tabbed quite a lot of the area awesome, some of the hills really pull hard, real chinstrappers :schocked: This was in summertime dread to think what it's like in winter... Beautiful area The statue is quite a memorial to a remarkable group of men. Hardyferret

ackack
Yes, it was about 3 or 4 years when I was there last. There were lots of flowers and tributes laid to recently lost service personnel in present conflicts.
No Signals
If you have time its worth having a hunt around the areas they trained on. Both on land and in one of the smaller lochs I've seen fins/bodies from mortars, unexploded(?)/dummy grenades etc. Left well alone I have to say. Would that I had found the half track I was told was pulled from a lochside only 20ish(?) years ago. Anyone else heard that story? Where did it end up? Snapper
Haven't been to Speen Bridge since 1990. It is a superb monument. I took a good few snaps (as always!!). There were good views of Ben Nevis from there, if my memory serves, and we were fortunate to see it with blue sky.
