internalfire
Does anybody recognise this trailer? The engine is now off so can take further pics if needed. Ackerman steering and has two rectangular bars mounted through the deck across the bed. Thanks Paul
wally dugan
Looks like a FV2505D Trailer Flat platform 2 tonne made by rubery owen if you can get a look at the 1971 BRITISH MILITARY BOOK on pages 76 77 78 79 there is two pictures of both types
internalfire
Thanks, one hell of a trailer for 2 tonne, air braked all round. Worth saving or scrapman? Trailer is basically solid although wheel arches need minor work and brakes are siezed - lack of use/stuck rather than beyond help. Engine museum so ex-mil trailer not required! Thanks Paul

ploughman
We used to have a 27.5 KV genny set with that bigger trailer. I seem to remember it having some sort of cover over the gen set though. Used to power the Machinery wagon for the fitters and REME plus powering the offices if needed. Our unit was an RE Field Squadron ADR based near Tidworth in the 70s - 80s

Used to power the Machinery wagon for the fitters and REME plus powering the offices if needed. Our unit was an RE Field Squadron ADR based near Tidworth in the 70s - 80s if it was a Meadows genny, then it would have had a metal cover on it, with the exhaust exiting through the roof, with roll up canvas sheets on all four sides. Hand cranking those gennies was a nightmare, with several broken fingers resulting from the starting handle kickbacks. We never did seem to find parts for the original compressed air starting setup! ltwtbarmy
http://www.anti-aircraft.co.uk/images/radar/meadows27.jpg The whole setup shown in the link would have been bolted down to the Sentinel 2 tonne trailer, which is the trailer shown at the start of this thread. Great trailers, but the mudguards simply fell to pieces with rust!
