skyhawk42 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Does anybody know what Stolly's are selling for in the USA. Are there any and how much do they sell for? Quote
robin craig Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 There are a number over this side of the pond. Frankly they change hands for stupidly low money from what I have seen as they are usually in a state of disrepair and as a result why would you pay top dollar for an unproven item. If you could get $15,000 for one you would be doing well. Most people run them and keep them or they go downhill rapidly after stopping working fully. R Quote
Cold_War_Collection Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 A number are in storage in California, after being used for various movies and TV over the past few years. These may be available from the vehicle yards of some of the studios. Many have been modified to various degrees as well, so that may be a plus, a minus, depending on what was done to them. Robin is quite right, they do deteriorate quickly if not looked after, and are quite complex machines. When de-mobed, there were quite a few around (in the UK) and being an interesting vehicle, many ended up in the collectors market in various countries. Many owners found that the maintence hours per driving hour was a vastly uneven sum, and that contributes to low prices. Great driving machines, yes, but they do need care and attention more than a jeep! We have one here in the collection, runs well, a joy to drive, but we are still hunting down the odd hyd. leak. One more thing, check if this class of vehicle is ok for your state as a "normal" truck, some juristictions declare this as an "oversize" truck by its width (barely), but, to be safe, if you find one and intend to drive it on the road, best check your local regs. Cheers Nick The Cold War Collection, Ottawa (slightly north of Robin !) Quote
