fv1609
Not a quiz, but does anyone know for what this tool was intended please?
ferrettkitt
I have a few of these tools and as they came with CES for armoured vehicles like Centurion I suspect that might be where the answer could be found
fv1609
Ok Andy I noticed it refers to "WATER FILLERS" that didn't seem like a normal truck. I wonder what function the other ends had?
Hoseman
Very simelar to design and looks to an industrial oil/water barrel opener for undoing the lids. Maybe different end configerations for different fluids??
N.O.S.
Ok Andy I noticed it refers to "WATER FILLERS" that didn't seem like a normal truck. I wonder what function the other ends had? Drain plugs of both female hex and male square type?
Adrian Barrell
It's known as universal key, at least it always has been to me! As mentioned, Centurion and others. The small square socket is for hatch locks, the four lug end does the fuel, oil and water caps and the hex key.... I can't remember! I'll look on some of mine, I'm seem to remember it's stamped into it.
fv1609
Ok thanks all. It is a shame that none of the VAOS labels remain intact. I have VAOS LV6-MT2 1944 but nothing in there.
Richard Farrant
Ok thanks all. It is a shame that none of the VAOS labels remain intact. I have VAOS LV6-MT2 1944 but nothing in there. Not in 1951 edition either
Lauren Child
Comet and early Cent manuals list it as Key, universal, filler caps and trap doors. Part no. Z3035 Cromwell vehicle training pamphlet calls it Tool, combination, (supersedes "key, trap-door catch" "key, drain plug" and "key, petrol oil and water cap"). Richard Farrant
Comet and early Cent manuals list it as Key, universal, filler caps and trap doors. Part no. Z3035. Z3035 looks like a Britool stock number
Starfire
I've got one in my Saracen and use it to open the fuel filler. While I guess that it's supposed to open hatches and the like, it doesn't quite fit any of the ones I have. Cheers, Terry
