Hang around a few hours until the tide is different and I'll bet either when you land or you embark for the return, they'll cross-deck you between boat and shore (or vice versa) in a genuine, sea-going Stolly. I did, a couple of years ago. Been there too. Found the whole trip rather worrying, especially as the driver had just had the engine deck up and the engine errupted into life in a plume of lack smoke...
