Joris
It's been a month ago already but I never got around to posting my pictures from the Market Garden commemorations in which I participated. It was quite a busy program, I will add little text and a lot of pictures. Saturday September 15: Memorial drop Heeswijk Castle (dropzone A1 during Market Garden): Sunday September 16: Unveiling of a new memorial to the Tactical Carrier Groups who made Market Garden possible. Monday September 17: Memorial service in Eerde (near Veghel) at the recently restored Windmill, it was destroyed in the fighting. The school children arrive, followed by the band and the veterans / vips. Ray Nagell, 321st Glider Field Artillery The people attending the service. John Primerano, also attending, said: "My buddies did not die in vain, you who have come here are the proof of that". The veterans, laying a wreath. Tuesday September 18: Liberation of Eindhoven parade. I'm on the handsome one on the right. We picked up a school class which came back from a Normandy excursion and they rode with us into town. Nice and busy in Eindhoven It's Enigma (Olaf)! Because of previous commitment I could not make it to Arnhem for the commemorations there but it was a very good week! Joris
Yeah he was unhurt, in the picture you can see him standing on the bottom of the ditch. No harm done, except to his ego of course
Tony B
Wonder if we could get a HMVF group discount on the ferries? Make a change from Normandy and Bethune, been there done that getting bored. About 100 miles from Vlissegen to Eindhoven, ferries run from Dartford to Vlissegen. Joris
If I recall correctly the W&P code is valid all year. But that is to Dunkirk and then still 300km to go.
Joris
My in-laws run a bed and breakfast where you can stay with up to 8 people. Vehicle can be parked safely outside, it is situated at the end of a dead end street.
Tony B
Any more commercials? :-D I have to take Katy to Normandy, a lot of sentiment in that, but it would be nice to have a British presence at Arnhem. :cool2:
