modello
Dear colleagues ! Who knows the following information: 1) Is the chassis of Guy "Quad Ant" artillery tractor the same, like Guy "Quad Ant" truck ? Or it has some reinforced elements ? 2) Had these two vehicles similar chassis main frames or not ? 3) Is the chassis (and main frame) of Guy "Quad Ant" vehicles similar to Guy "Ant" 4x2 truck chassis and frame ? Wait for the answers from You. Regards, modello.
Nick Johns
Dear colleagues ! Wait for the answers from You. Regards, modello. Here is a picture of a 1938 Guy Ant 4x2 truck we recently recovered, checking the specification of the Guy Ant and Quad Ant they all had the same wheelbase, so probably did use the same chassis frame, I think Guy Motors adapted what they already had in production rather than make something new, the rear axle on this truck was far heavier than required so I think it was the same axle for other models, the artillery tractor chassis probably was reinforced to cope wth the central mounted winch Edited March 21, 2012 by Nick Johns
Runflat
As Nick says, the winch on the FAT QUAD means there will be differences. Whether the GS Quad chassis and the GS 4x2 chassis are the same, I dont know. There are pics of the FAT chassis here: http://www.oldcmp.net/Guy_2.html

chrisgrove
According to Mike Conniford, the Quad Ant trucks started to be made when FAT production ceased in 1943 and the same chassis were used. For the GS truck, the winch was removed, but it was retained for the 6 pounder anti-tank gun tractor version. So the Quad Ant FAT and truck would have had the same chassis, though the trucks had load carrier springs and a smaller fuel tank. He does not comment on any difference between the Ant chassis and the Quad Ant chassis. Chris
