croc
In November 1981 my Grandfather finally recieved an honour he knew nothing about, follow the link for news videos from the time (this is less public than youtube.) http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/9153/me7.mp4 I also have a couple of related articles. I am starting to research things a little more. His name was Frank Adamson, Army no. 831864, DoB. 28/11/1908. He joined up, I think in the '30s, in preference to going down the mines. I know he served in India before the war and was in H Troup, Honourable Artilery Company at the time of his capture 16th March 1942. He ended up in Stalag 4B Muhlberg (PoW no. 225761) until the end of the war. One of the things I would like to find out is if his Croix de Guerre would have had any distinguishing marks. It was taken in a burgulary many years ago, after my Grandfather had passed away. Edited December 17, 2011 by croc
Degsy
Very interesting, thanks for posting. Just goes to show the 'Colonel Blimp' attitude of some of the senior officers of that time. Never the less a very brave and modest man. R.I.P.
croc
Another thing that I have wondered about over the years, given the problems with this one, how common was it for the French to award decorations to other nations forces? Degsy
I have seen quite a lot of instances of awards so I would think fairly common.
