Can you guess what it is yet?

Think you're right Adrian - it's one of the Eagle kit cars isn't it ? If it's a newish one then they are made by Pilgrim now . Looked for one a while ago as there was going to be a Range Rover based one but it never seemed to materialise .

Well done Dave yes it is an Eagle kit car based on a Ford Cortina chasis apparently . Fooled me at first but then when I looked around it things started to make sense!

Used to be made by Rob Bud of AWDC fame, on RR chassis I believe.

The kits seem to have been manufactured under various company names over the years . When I first came across them they were based , as already stated , on Cortina running gear and were Willys MB shaped (possibly using the old Jago Geep moulds and patterns) . They subsequently morphed into the CJ5 profile vehicle under the Eagle RV manufacturers name and utilising Sierra components . There was supposed to be a new version which was to be based on Range Rover bits which is when I enquired after one but never received a reply or any info ! Shortly after that the Eagle website went offline and disappeared . The last I heard of them was when I went to a kit car show a few years back and the RV had been reborn under the Pilgrim banner and was a slightly revamped version again on Sierra mechanicals . I've heard that there are a few 4x4 versions about based on Fourtrak or RR gear but whether these are factory produced kits or adapted 2wd versions I have no idea .

Yes - sorry Smithy , didn't mean to contradict you . I meant to add that the CJ shape was Cortina based before the change to Sierra .

No worries Dave I wasn't aiming the response at you anyway I was just clearing up what I read on the exhibit. I'm just interested to learn more about these vehicles from other people.

On second thoughts, remembered that Rob built his own 4x2 box chassis, can't remember what running gear but it was 4x4.

I remember him offering to lend one to a doubting competitor telling him to do his worst, it won't break.

Been looking for a pic but no luck so far, I know I have one somewhere.

I rember these from whn I had a VW.

They were based on Ford running gear, but the kit had its own chassis.

Did not have to be a Cortina as the Escort and Capri would basically have provided the same donor parts, although not sure if they relied on the Cortina's suspension. If I remeber correctly the Cortina (later models) did not have rear leaf springs and McPherson struts front.

If I remeber rightly Jago mad a Willys style jeep and Eagle made the later style as shown. If my memory serves me correctly both were available at about the same time.

I thought about building an Eagle once but the real thing would have worked out cheaper.

Have seen a V8 (Rover) Eagle but not a 4x4 version.

I've seen a couple of these in various states of disrepair - the chassis is very crude box section and if memory serves it's bl**dy heavy for what it is, and from what I remember I wasn't overly convinced by the construction of the thing or the concept as a whole when compared to chassis on other 4x4's.

They were Ford based, Cortina/Sierra I don't think there's much difference between the two in running gear anyway.
