Joris
Last sunday I visited the tank depot of the Belgium army museum, at Fortress Kapellen. This used to be just a storage area but the government deceided that it should be open to the public. Thus now they organise visitors days and these are the photos from last sunday. The first hall, completly stuffed with tanks and APCs: Hall no2 with mostly WWII vehicles: Then outside 3 more recent tanks: Some Warshaw packt stuff in the rolling stock hall: Misc: I want one of these: Then there was a demonstration of some of the rolling stuff: And then they parked it all in the "rolling stock" hall:

ArtistsRifles
I wouldn't say no to one of the (what I think are) Quads - or the Matador - or the Universal Carrier - or the German half-track!!! (or even any one of the tanks!!)
Richard Farrant
I don't half fancy that Matador That Matador has only just been bought by the museum. It came from a collector in Kent, I did some work on the air system a little while back. It would appear that the museum is buying up exhibits for a collection, I know of a Bedford QLB and Bofors which they also bought from England in the last couple of years. Joris
I like this truck: It absolutely dwarfs the jimmy next to it (which in itself is a failrly big truck).
Degsy
Good choice Joris, that's the Mack I mentioned in my earlier post
79x100
The "friends" of the museum appear to have a website. http://tankfreak.tripod.com/id1.html Looks as if the next date for a visit is October unfortunately.

79x100
I would be up for 15th October. It might be a chance for anyone this side of the ditch to say hello :-) I don't speak Antwaarps though. Not sure I really want to actually. Rich.
79x100
I don't know what happened to my newest post. Did I do something wrong ? I might well take a risk and go along on 15th October, even though I don't speak Antwaarps. Perhaps it might be a good way to meet up with other members this side of the ditch ? Rich. Isn't that supposed to be Dutch!! (well the Belgian version of it anyway). By the way what's wrong with speaking Dutch? I do as well as English, German a wee little bit of French and swearing in lots of other languages.
Degsy
The British are poor linguists, most people expect everybody to speak English, probably something to do with the old Empire when more than half the world was cooured red on the map. :-)

Enigma, Ik heb geen enkel probleem met het gebruik van algemeen nederlands maar dat Antwaarps accent vind ik verschrikkelijk. Liever west-vlaams zonder ondertiteling :-) I should mention that I live in Belgian Limburg and Antwerpenaars always laugh at the accent here (I dooon't knooow why) and so I waste no opportunity to have a dig back ! I'm actually quite proud of my adopted accent, even if it does differ from the next village. Groetjes vanuit het verre Limburg m'ne jong Rich. Enigma
For those who can't.. Some of us British types can speak another language - Russian for example. I also speak a little German but I will not because of problems at work.
