ferrettkitt
Any tips on operating the beasties I've a few of each type and getting them to work correctly without flaring is a pain in the proverbial! Up to now this is the best of four. The earlier type at the bottom seems to burn the best without excessive flaring
croc
I have started using meths to preheat mine, rather than the petrol from the tank. It burns much cleaner and doesn't cover everything in soot, as a bonus the petrol lasts a good bit longer. Don't pump the pressure up to much until it is hot. ferrettkitt
Many thanks for the info I'll have another go with the modified MK2 when I've renewed the leather cup washer I'm probably over priming it. Tried meths it does seem to be more effective in pre heating the beasties!
Bazz
I concur with preheating with meths. Bazz

I've used paraffin in the cookers for a while now but I'll try diesel in one of them and see if it works any better. You don't mean the No.12 diesel cooker do you? Great piece of kit better than the other two by a long shot! Edited December 7, 2009 by ferrettkitt
