fadedsun
Got these from SS (I think) Iraqi Scorpions in a graveyard someplace in Iraq (Iraq has many AFV graveyards like this). Appear to be complete, no destruction , possibly just dragged here and left.
Grasshopper
I can't remember where i read it, but apparently one was got running with little work. I think they are destined for destruction though.
Marmite!!
Posted here too #10 apparently they are Iranian Scorpions
sirhc
I originally posted these photos on this forum, the guy who took them send them to me, along with some others. They are Iranian Scorpions, captured in the Iran/Iraq war. There are also a number of Chieftains at the same location. The guy who took the photos says he managed to get one running. It's a shame that the US Army is going to blow them up.
berna2vm
That is a real shame. I wonder how much shipping would cost from there to Southampton?
sirhc
I was interested in shipping them back, the first problem is finding who owns them, the second is asking for permission to ship tanks out of a war zone... in the end I decided I'd leave them where they were. recymech66
I've seen one of the Chieftains at Shiabah Log base in Iraq (when it was still a Brit camp) we used to use it for recovery training etc, apparently that was a left over from the Iran/Iraq War. Shame they couldn't be brought back, although I've just seen a T55 on a ship a couple of months ago being shipped back.
berna2vm
Where there is life, there is hope. I think there is maybe a chance right up until the demolition charges are detonated. After that point they will be scrap! They would make great gate guardians, that would be a better fate than destruction.
recymech66
I can also think of a few museums that would probably love to own one. Nice bit of history, no matter whose history it belongs too.
