Dodgey Posted May 11, 2006 Share Posted May 11, 2006 Just thought you may like to know. The show at Exbury Gardens has over 150 vehicles booked in mostly war time. Also over 11 Living History Groups. There are some stalls booked in as well. Not bad for a first time show! There is a 40's dance on the Saturday. Hope to see you all there! If I was to take my family it would cost me £50 just to get in then add all of the other costs, I just hope this event hasn't priced itself out :cry: Jack. fv1609 Posted May 15, 2006 Share Posted May 15, 2006 As a MVT member I want to enjoy & support a local MVT event. I have entered & got my stuff through today. I appreciate the whole thrust of this event is WW2. The problem is my vehicles are postwar. I am not sure whether to bring either Pig or Hornet or if I should really be coming at all. Clearly neither of these vehicles would mix in with a WW2 display & mention is made that vehicles up to 1945 may enter the gargens for static display. So what would happen to later vehicles would they be confined to a camping area/carpark? Or would they be displayed somewhere on the basis this is what developped from these earlier vehicles? I am not trying be difficult & don't have a particular chip on my shoulder re WW2/post WW2. But I don't want to turn up & be either an embarrassment to the event or have the vehicle hidden away so nobody would see it. What do you think? ashley Posted May 16, 2006 Share Posted May 16, 2006 Hi all, idid hear from a friend who spoke to one of the organisers, thiugh it is a pre- D day show they did not object to post war vehicles being in attendence but strictly no axis vehicles and no sales of nazi ( :evil: :evil: ) militaria or display of german uniforms. So camping next to your mv isn't a problem. Postwar similar. I know the cost is prohibitive, but if you are a member of teh MVT, bring your card and you get in free even if you don't have a vehicle - can't be bad at least you get in FREE. As far as the price is concerned Dodgy is right, that's public entry price, and was set by the venue, not us- although we have ensured that MVT card holders get in free! On the Post-war vehicle front, we want all MV owners to feel welcome and part of the event. The displays will be split between several sites, and as far as we are concerned Post-war vehicles are every bit as interesting as WW2 green machines, so don't feel embarressed, and please come along so that we can demonstrate the progression of vehicle development. Lastly, the camping will be in the general display area, similar to many events, and all MV owners will be able to move their vehicles back to this area after public opening hours if they choose to display elsewhere during the day. We are well aware that some people camp in their vehicles, and most of us worry about security if the green machine is left alone. Looking forward to seeing you all there! The displays themselves were split in to the following groups light vehicles :- jeeps,dodges,15 cwt medium :- 3 tonners heavy : 2 miles per gallon jobbies re-enactment you could only enter or leave the display area under escort at the prescribed time agreed with the marshalls, and this could be the reason that a lot of vehicles never left the camping area.
