  1. Hi All, We are now in the final build up to this, so I thought I'd answer the Q's. As far as the price is concerned Dodgy is right, that's public entry price, and was set by the venue, not us- although we have ensured that MVT card holders get in free! On the Post-war vehicle front, we want all MV owners to feel welcome and part of the event. The displays will be split between several sites, and as far as we are concerned Post-war vehicles are every bit as interesting as WW2 green machines, so don't feel embarressed, and please come along so that we can demonstrate the progression of vehicle development. Lastly, the camping will be in the general display area, similar to many events, and all MV owners will be able to move their vehicles back to this area after public opening hours if they choose to display elsewhere during the day. We are well aware that some people camp in their vehicles, and most of us worry about security if the green machine is left alone. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
  2. Dear All, It has now been confirmed that this prestigious venue will be available for free camping to entrants from Thursday PM, until Monday PM, for those who would like to make a long weekend of it!
  3. January has seen a burst of initial entries for the show, with 30+ vehicles, both wartime and post war, already booked in at this early stage. There was great interest at Stoneleigh, and following the publication of the MVTs 'Green Sheet' within which every member recieved an entry form and press release with show advert we hope to see many more flier returns! Make sure you don't miss it! 8)
  4. Hi Guys, As this is an event for all MV enthuiasts, post war vehicles are more than welcome!

  7. Hi Guys, I went along to Christmas Leave- it was a great day! Saw the vehicles- one of the jeeps was our Chairmans recent purchase. About 40-50 people there. Lots of interesting uniforms. Shame I didn't spot any HMVFers- it would have been nice to say hello!
  8. Sounds like a good idea, I understand that the Mid-hants group is no more, so there is probably a hole in your area of the world. It is good to have a group. BTW- we prefer to stay in and get dirty- oil, grease, tools, engines...
  9. Hi Guys, Strangely there already is an MV club that meets in Hampshire (or the Southern part of it)! South Hampshire Area, MVT meets on the second Tuesday of the month at Fareham Football club from 8pm. (Although we are currently looking for an alternative meeting place) Why not come along? Regards, Ross
  10. Guys, The dig out went really well- unfortunately for you late comers the bargains went really early! We had just over 40 stalls- nearly all vehicle related- not almost all uniforms like at Malvern. Most of these were actual MV owners with their own spares to sell at realistic prices. 250 punters came through, so it was busy early on. Oddball must have been a late arrival, as I see from his photos that the car park (feild) was much emptier than at its peak. We hope to do another next year.
  11.   Sorry mate, been up there today getting ready, Steve would have a heart attack if we made him do it next weekend! I'm sure the guy will let you know what was there- including GMC softcab mirror arms!
  12. OK guys, Just checked, and there are 30 pre-booked pitches. The weather looks promising (I know, now I've mentioned it, it'll be out the window...) so hopefully some more will come on the day.
  13. I hope it will be a good event, and I understand twenty people have pre-booked pitches, plus those who turn up on the day with a car full of MV treats to sell. Hope to meet as many of you there as possible.
  14. Thanks Guys, We hope it'll bring back the 'good old days' , but it is quite difficult to get an event going, so we'll be glad to see you all there. We thought keeping it simple would be best, as loads of shows these days are too expensive. I'd rather spend my money on kit!
  15. Dear MV fans, I am helping out with an event that I thought might be of interest.... Dallas Autos are holding an Autojumble/ militaria market at their yard on Sunday the 16th October between 8am-3pm. The idea is to encourage regular members/ MV owners to come along to sell or buy spares and kit- and as such it will be a reasonably priced event. £5 for a pitch to sell W.H.Y. or just £1 to get in and buy some more old military stuff. Stallholders/Traders may also come, by prior arrangement. Of course Dallas Autos will be open for the day too. The address is: Dallas Auto Parts, Cold Ash Farm, Long Lane, Hermitage, Nr. Newbury Berkshire. If you would like to speak to someone about this (besides me!) you can phone Liz at Dallas on 01635 201124 or Andy on 01489 580879. It could be a good chance to de-clutter the garage, raise some cash for Christmas, or buy those parts for the winter project.
  16. Well, VJ day gone, The MVs did us proud, with 15 or so vehicles, from South Hampshire and West Sussex MVT area members attending- these ranged from Jeeps to a Diamond T wrecker and Scammell 30 tank transporter with trailer. Thanks you all to those who helped make it a good day out.
  17. No, She is an MV fan too! She was driving Jeeps and going boating on DUKWs well before I got into it. Ross
  18. Hi Jack, I drive a '42 WC51 Dodge, in US Navy livery. It is little known that over here the US Navy did not bring its beloved Internationals, but generally used US Army stock vehicles so as not to introduce another spares stream. There were quite a few USN Bluejackets about this part of the world then, so it seems appropriate. Ross
  19. Nice to find a friendly site- here's a little about me. I started out through re-enactment about 15 years ago, and now collect almost exclusively WW2 United States Navy militaria from WW2. Since then I have also bought a 1942 Dodge WC51 with my father, and enjoy working on and rallying it very much. Almost exactly a year ago my wife Rebecca and I got married in a '41 Dodge WC10 Carryall! (Although the WC51 came too!) So I guess I'm a Dodge fan. Recently have gotten into local MVT with the start of the new South Hampshire Area- I was never involved previously, as we preffered to do our own thing. This helps us to meet lots of nice MV owners. Cheers, Ross
  20. Dear MV enthusiasts, All a bit last minute- but I have only just registered! We are taking part in Southampton City Councils VJ Day celebrations this Sunday (14th August). Anyone wishing to bring an allied wartime vehicle would be most welcome. Although the city issued passes, latecomers will have to pick them up from me on the day! Currently we have 15 vehicles coming. We will meet at West Marlands Rd by the civic centre between 8-10am, and then be in a parade through the city centre following a commemorative service at mid-day. Following the parade MVs will be on show at the civic centre, where a free 40s dance is to be held in the afternoon. Depart 4pm. Hope to see anyone that might fancy a memorable day out.
