  3. I'm pleased to see a discussion about Post War vehicles, We (South Hampshire Area MVT) organised a show at Exbury last year - We'll meet Again - the organisers, Exbury Gardens wanted WWII vehicles only, we managed to get them to agree that Post War vehicles could attend though they would be not be put into the gardens but could attend the rally site. I didn't hear one complaint. However, we are pleased to announce that following the success of Exbury, we have been asked by the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, nr Southampton, to stage Trucks and Troops Show on the 26th,27th and 28th May 2007 - Spring Bank Holiday. We welcome ANY military vehicle of ANY age from ANY country - no holds barred. So all you Post War Vehicle owners, get your vehicle entries in - vote with your vehicle. You can get your entry form at: http://www.southhampshiremvt.org Dodgey

  6. OK, so I've got indicators on the Jeep, only I need yellow 6volt bulbs, as I can only get white, I'm after some yellow lacquer, the type used to paint headlamps when going to Europe - those were the days. Obviously can't get any, has any one ideas where? Dodgey
  7. Has anyone got a photo of how the Jeep horn fits to the bracket? I have the right parts, just don't know in waht order they go! Dodgey
  8. This Jeep is killing me! Restoring this 'Bitsa' Jeep seems to be two steps forward one step back. I've just fitted the petrol tank (wide mouth type) and having made one drivers seat out of two had come to fit it and fins that the opening is in the wrong place. I take it that the darn seat is for a small mouth seat. So do I take the front seat pan off and replace it with a wide mouth pan or find a small mouth gas tank? The seat is superb, the F in the rear part is really stamped out solid - never seen one like this.
  9. Bought an MV petrol tank rubber fixing kit to fit the petrol tank intothe well. Can't seem to see how it fits any ideas? Dodgey
  10. Hi thanks for your reply, managed to get one, Dallas have some new old stock but sells them with an inlet manifold. They are hard to find. Hope that helps. Dodgey
  11. Guess what! Did overhaul today and started the truck and the exhaust manufold broke in two! Can't belie it can you. And the damn thing was fine last year! Anyone got one for 3/4 ton Dodge? Dodgey
  12. I have it from good authority that both the camp site and the vehicles are together wether ww2 or post war. So camping next to your mv isn't a problem. Postwar similar. I know the cost is prohibitive, but if you are a member of teh MVT, bring your card and you get in free even if you don't have a vehicle - can't be bad at least you get in FREE. They have also laid on a old charanbang (open top coach) to go down to Lepe so you can send the missus and kids to the beach! Dodgey
  13. I have asked the organisers and they have posted the entries today. So we should be all systems go! Dodgey
  14. Just thought you may like to know. The show at Exbury Gardens has over 150 vehicles booked in mostly war time. Also over 11 Living History Groups. There are some stalls booked in as well. Not bad for a first time show! There is a 40's dance on the Saturday. Hope to see you all there!

  22. Just thought you would like to see how to install a new Jeep starter ring on the flywheel and at the same time have a BBQ! This is the first time I have tried to put photos on the HMVF so fingures crossed. First cut the existing ring away from the flywheel Heat up the BBQ and drop the new ring onto it, cook for 15 minuets Don't try to pick it up by hand! Ready to be refitted! If anyone's interested will post more of the engine rebuild?
  23. Just had the Ford Engine block checked out and the bad news was the block has four cracks in it. So will now start the search for a second block.....
  24. I'm restoring the Ford Jeep engine. As usual the engine has had a crack in the block and before I rebuild it I want to get it Xrayed to check it has been done. Any ideas who can do it? Preferably near Portsmouth. Also should I have it pressure tested - I found a company that will do it for £65.
  25. The body is original, no strengthner plate for gascan holder. Iv'e checked the body over and find it's all OK. Now the problem -Sand blast or just sand it? I don't want to sand blast it and have pit marks all over it. Any ideas? NAW I'm not bragging but I find I have two steering wheels - one black one Green early GPW type.
