  1. Thanks chaps, couldnt wait a week;). I have changed the oil to sae30 and checked the oil pump filter, but still no pressure:cry:. I have disconnected the oil guage at the engine end - nothing, and undone an oil pipe on the rocker shaft - nothing. Its frustrating as when I first stared the engine before starting the resto I had pressure. I guess the sump and oil pump are going to have to come off:cry:.:banghead: Just about ready to throw in the towel!
  2. Thanks guys, I suspected (hoped) it may be. Battery has gone flat now anyway:cry: so I will sort some SAE30 for next weekend.
  3. Hi all. I am tinkering with getting the MW running and have put some cheap multigrade oil in as a stop gap, but I cant get any oil pressure at the moment. Could it be down to the oil?
  4. Had a visit from Rippo today, look what he brought with him! I am a happy bunny!:thanx:
  5. Acquired a few British style footman loops this weekend - well chuffed!:-D
  6. I attended the new 'Cliffs Clearout' bring and buy sale at Universal Jeep Supplies nr Godalming yesterday. A good little get together with some nice bits on offer from a dozen or so stalls plus Universal Jeep supplies stores offering all the Jeep owners could possibly want. Very friendly helpful staff and sensibly priced refreshments made it a great (although cold!) morning out. I hope they do it again.
  7. Nice work, hats off to you for 'sticking with it' and not scrapping her.
  8. The body of the lamp is actually a custom/classic car mirror(!) Which my brother then converted with some festoon bulb holders. My vintage Fire Engine has side lights very much like the early MW's and these mirror bodies are almost identical. I'll take a pic with the lenses on to see what you think.
  9. The wiring is nearly finished, rear lights and number plate mounting/lights fitted. The sidelights will be side and indicators. Tailgate chains and hooks fitted. The correct pattern bush bar now on.
  10. :thumbsup::tup:::dancinggirls::wow: Top job John.
  11. Wiring going back in. Tailgate painted, tailgate bump stop brackets fabricated. Merry Christmas all!
  12. I think this is the bottom line statement at the end of every thread on this subject, some people want to, some people don't. Different people different tastes and if that wasn't the case everyone would own a Jeep with airborne markings (ok bad example :-D) I though everyone DOES own a Jeep in airborne markings;) Seriously though, each to their own is the way to go. I think the correct uniform can really set off a restoration, but the owner has to be comfortable with what they do.
  13. Ooo nice ! Is that a clutch pedal spring? I need one of those.:wow:
  14. Very good. You are a hardy (if slightly mad;)) bunch! I felt cold just watching. Nice to see people enjoying their vehicles.
  15. Wow! Hmmmm, Dear Santa.......... Great to hear M D Juan staff are all ok. I no longer have a Jeep, but thought of them when watching the news as 'our' link to the phillipines, so thanks for that info.
  16. A really nice early wartime truck, keep the progress reports and pics coming. Will it be ready for the Dunkirk 75th anniversary?
  17. Well progress is still slow, family commitments, car issues and the forthcoming festivities are conspiring to make sure time and cash is short:cry: I am still working on the area I probably have least experience / confidence / enjoyment in - brakes. The O/S cylinders are re rubbered and back together, as is the master cylinder, so hopefully they will perform OK, time will tell. I shall get on to the N/S as soon as I can. I have yet to sort a water pump, recon or otherwise, so still can't have her running again:( All in all a bit frustrated with progress, but I guess many of you have been there! The good thing is 'er indoors refuses to let me give up. On a positive note, I now have a pair of screens, an early bush bar and a copy of the early parts list thanks to a very good friend on HMVF. Will post again when things move forward.
  18. Ahhh, I thought I had missed something! Rust was holding it in when I took it apart! Cheers John.
  19. This is probably a daft question:blush: but I know Im among friends. I am re-assembling my master cylinder, with new rubbers. The primary piston (the one the push rod comes in contact with) at the moment 'pops out' of the end of the cylinder. Will it do this until fitted on the chassis so the pushrod holds it in, or have I done something wrong?. So if this is the case do I fit the rubber boot when the master cylinder is in situ? Hope I am making some sort of sense.:nut:
  20. 'our' (work) lorry is delivering sand there tomorrow. The other day it was shingle.
  21. I think personally the bar grips look good, I guess they would fit my MW also then. I think thats the way I will go myself.
