  1. Pretty sure upon really close inspection of the top photograph that there is a terrapin in there! What a rare beast that would be now!!! cheers alex
  2. As per title, am after a dodge gearbox. It must be in good condition preferably renovated. PM me with any leads please many thanks Alex
  3. For the Sunday if you are in armour (tanks) and there are more than 10, do you have to be part of the parade on Sunday? Just thinking some would perhaps prefer to just do the Saturday if this is the case. many thanks alex
  4. I too am interested in the gun as I saw that before it was restored to go with the holt. Seems a shame to split them
  5. I have asked on the Facebook page but is the campsite/base going to be in the same location? Hope to attend in 2016...] Many thanks Al

  7. I don't know about the Ward but i do know the Mack LMSW has one.. which i guess means the NM and possibly the NO would have them too? Cheers
  8. David, Do you have any more info on the Detroit V6? Was it really that bad to drive with? Would love to hear more from you on that if i could? Drop me a PM please! Many thanks Alex
  9. These are so far from the originals though that putting them back to ww2 spec would cost a small fortune.. let alone finding the parts for them as i suspect alot of parts will have been modified for the retro fitted diesels. HOWEVER not impossible to the right person! Al
  10. For some reason, I put £'s instead of $'s for the toad, the toad made $70,000 dollars! sorry for the confusion! cheers al
  11. I have to say I sat up until the last vehicle sold and it was fascinating! Few vehicles of note: 1)the Mack No2 made $40,000 which to me seemed steep 2)the Israeli super sherman made $255,000 3)the sherman m4a3 (early model) made $260,000 although I believe that needs restoring 4)the grant tank which was a non runner made $240,000 5) the Churchill toad which was over valued made £70,000 so way off the estimate!!! 6)the sterling wrecker made $2,000 which I thought cheap considering it's rarity now for the 'Littlefield select vehicles' 1) the easy 8 sherman made $300,000 and did sell 2) the german 8 ton half track sdkfz 7 made: $1,050,00 and did sell at that price 3) the LVT modified made $375,000 and did not sell at that price 4) the panzer 4 ausf H got to $1,750,00 and did not meet reserve 5) the jumbo sherman got to $800,000 did not meet reserve and did not sell. was an interesting auction none the less and has at least given a talking point for a few weeks on here! cheers Al
  12. Concrete removal from tanks has been done! Just be prepared to spend alot of time doing it! Give them a jack hammer for a couple or three days. That'l do the trick he said! Cheers Al
  13. Stanley the situation for race teams is worse now then it was then! More teams fold now than they did then! Just check out Autosport and youll get the picture pretty quickly!
  14. Did anyone get any more pictures? Particularly of the 3 Hellcats? Cheers Al
  15. The medals bit i totally get, but guys come on not every person wants to dress in 100% accurate clothing and its as simple as that. Last weekend at cosby i was crewing one of the hellcats and opted literally for a green t-shirt and trousers to match. I admit in front of the crowd it may not look that authentic or whatever else but at the end of the day i was comfortable and really enjoyed myself. What i'm really getting at is you have to live and live it is at the end of the day 'each to their own' Just my thoughts on the matter cheers Alex
  16. Interesting replies guys, Just to clarify i wasn't saying we should just remove the tanks and remove the memorial i was just going on the lines of the tanks being removed and being replaced with for example a stone memorial or the like. The Tiger at Vimoutiers is unlikely to be saved due to the damage it has to the turret and other sections of the tank but there are some other tanks that seem in good enough condition to be recovered and restored. For example the Panther in Breda in Holland that was i believe restored cosmetically by Kevin Wheatcroft in exchange for Gearbox and engine? There seems to be some rare pieces placed on Plinths that could be restored to running condition which i would rather see instead of them rusting away sitting there Cheers Al
  17. Hi guys just been looking on the surviving panzers website and had a good look about, really informative website which has got loads of good pics etc. However my question is don't you think that alot of ww2 era tanks used as memorials are wasted? There seems (at least to eye) to be tanks in relative good condition! I would rather see a stone memorial or the like used and have the tanks restored to running condition rather than have them rust away sat there! Whats everyone else s views on this? Many thanks Al
  18. Having been on 5 or more occasions i can only think that they have cancelled on principle. The Hellcat for example on steel tracks did make a slight 'white' mark on the tarmac roads but i don't believe this was actually damaging the road it was more from dust or some other substance (maybe someone could expand on that) Now the hellcat does not weigh that much at about 18/19 tonnes in comparison to the Shermans 30 odd tonnes but in fairness the Shermans did not seem to do that much damage either on the tarmac! So maybe it is down to the cobble stones in the town center being damage by the tanks but then surely that would be more down to the weight of the tanks rather than the tracks themselves and in which case it means both rubber and steel damage the surface meaning that really the ban on steels was a bit wasteful. I just hope it can be resolved tanks in town has always been so well organised in brilliant settings and it is always well received by the locals! Cheers Al
  19. Huge shame but then i can see where they are coming from, don't want to upset the city or the authorities by going ahead with the laws somewhat unclear at the moment! Hope they can sort it for 2013 as there was definitely talks of a trip for it!
  20. There were 4 but one succumbed to mechanical trouble early on and was forced to retire with a not to pleased crew (me included) But i have to say that it was unfortunate that more tanks chose not to come and participate! for us it was nearly a 600 mile there and back trip so it becomes expensive! cheers Alex
  21. Shame the hellcat had issues at this years A&E which was a huge shame for all the crew as we had traveled a fair ol distance for it!
  22. As said before rubber can cause as much if not more damage than steel tracks! Although i see why this would seem to be a good way of protecting yourself from potential damage to the roads in a build up to the olympics what will happen if its a really hot day and some of the bigger tanks rip up the road with rubbers?! Does that not leave you in a vunerable situation anyway jack?!
  23. This is infact interesting as i myself work at a fuel station. Its a BP franchise just outside of Attleborough! People who live in Norfolk will know that our prices are expensive in comparison to others around us! However having worked there for a number of years now i have not experianced this problem! All of our pumps work to my knowledge and as stated we get more problems with things like drive off's! Last one i had to deal with was a business man who decided he didnt need to pay for his £110 of diesel in his Audi A6! But i am intreguied to here of any more incidents of this! Many thanks Al
