  1. You forgot to factor in the 7 days or so loss of earnings so there's another grand.
  2. If you right click on the picture then click on properties you will see they are small to start off with, just 2300 or so bytes.
  3. Andy, by law any VAT registered seller has to charge the going rate of VAT when selling any trade goods that are VAT rated, whether he has bought them from a private individual or a trade source. IE he buys a bloggit from a man in the street for £10 sells it for £20+£3.50VAT he sends the IR £3.50. Next he buys a bloggit from Withom for £10+£1.75VAT, sells it for £20+£3.50VAT and sends the IR the difference between the input and output tax of £1.75. If the new buyer is VAT registered and sells it on then VAT is chargeable again and so on until it ends up with a non VAT registered person.
  4. Just to cheer you up here is a virtually brand new one in 1986 at Duxford before those clumsy rechymechy types had a chance to destroy it.
  5. 'Cause these were his wheels:
  6. My wife once drove off with a Martian, does that count?
  7. Hi, did you have a Millie and a Bedford RL some years back, based between Brickhill and Woburn Sands?
  8. Try Shorts of Swansea, they had all the bits to rebuild my '50s Constructor control box and claimed that it was quite modern for them.
  9. Joe, do they use a Rolls 305 like the S26/Crusader or is it a later engine?
  10. Maverick , if you are using a new lifting strop rated at 10 tons it will have a safety factor of at least 5 giving a minimum breaking strength of 50 tons. Be careful not to confuse safe working loads on recovery kit with lifting kit.
  11. Already happening, VW and Merc that I know of, although variable rather than the 1:20 ratio used with LGV/buses.
  12. No, it is a lot more complicated than that and I can never remember the reaction so have a look here: http://www.handling-adblue.co.uk/information.htm
  13. Trade name is Ad-blue, basically urea which is injected into the exhaust system and creates a reaction to get rid of nitrous oxides. Let the tank run dry and the management goes into limp home mode. Alternative is huge amounts of exhaust gas re-circ which creates it's own problems.
  14. My resident spies in Market Harborough are telling me the same story.:-X
  15. What happened, chain snapped or just too fast? I imagine a MBT would have an even higher C of G with turret + gun, but I don't remember that many roll over incidents with Commander, fires due to blow outs were more of a problem though.
  16. Really, how does that work? What if a HET driver wrote off a Challenger + the HET? 10% of £5.5 mil would put a bit of a dent in his bank balance. There must be far worse scenarios....
  17. Looks like a Polish ebay equivalent, 'kup teraz' translates to 'buy it now' while the other items are in an auction.
  18. All up weight of Scammell DROPS with LHS, SRTE and a laden rack is given as 37.25 tonnes:shocked:
  19. Chap goes round to see his neighbour who constantly borrows his Vauxhall car without permission. Can't see the problem his neighbour replies, any Firenza yours are Firenza mine.
  20. I think you will find that joke pre-dates the Geneva convention...
  21. Andy you cannot operate a private or civilian DROPS + trailer at 55 tons under STGO regs. STGO is for single indivisible loads which rules out 2 laden racks. A private or civilian laden DROPS + trailer cannot operate under Construction and Use regs at 44 tons because: 1) It does not have dual wheels on the driven axles 2) It needs an engine to EURO 2 standards or better 3) It must have road friendly suspension on drive and trailer axles 4) Each vehicle must have at least 3 axles. The army operate outside of both STGO and C&U regs, take the case of a Commander/Crane/Challenger combination. Total number of axles is classified as 5 (yes I know it has 7 but in line axles count as 1). Max weight per axle under STGO3 is 16.5 tons, 5 x 16.5 = 82.5 tons max, at least 20 tons short of what the combination is grossing.
  22. There is no way you could run a Scammell DROPS with trailer under C & U regs at 44 tons.
  23. So I suspect you will be covering up the STGO3 plate then??
