I need to check that again Iain, must admit I've just relied on the gps speedo the few times I've driven it in the last 6 months, will see come middle of May when I take it to bodyshop a few miles away. Got ear defenders for the noise 😀 I wouldn't go those speeds on single carriageways, I seem to get given a wide birth round here fortunately. Hoping to get to a local show in June all things being well.
Moved the Mili early this morning to the temporary storage pre bodyshop in 3 weeks, few oil stains are all that remain at the old site, not bad for 2.5 years. Managed a steady 49 mph along the dual carriageway no problem, one step closer. 👍
Hi Iain, yes everything apart from the internal of the cab which I'm still to sort, does include internal of the doors though. Looking forward to it, will be simply NATO green all over, will try to get some photos of it in the booth.
Managed 52 mph in mine once Iain (gps speedo), for me it's the length of time the truck takes to get to that speed compared to the modern vehicles around it, I drive with lights on dipped beam too with some of the plonkers on our roads - painful experience from riding motorbikes put to good use.
I'll be using two of these rechargeable magnetic beacons on my Mili in conjunction with the fixed beacon on the cab. They are very bright with 4 flash patterns, will test them this show season. I think they were about £18 each including charger.
Looks very smart Iain! I'll make contact with them as the crane control cover is also missing off mine having blown off on the M1 by Luton when I bought the Mili! I should be able to retrieve your winder mech from my local sorting office tomorrow, thanks again 😀👍
What an excellent vehicle & project - good to hear the owners done the right thing if they cannot keep her any longer. Very similar condition to how mine was purchased. After a quick spin round the block I decided to drive mine home 160 miles, good job I took my ear defenders
Quick search suggests 30,000 kg but you're firmly into STGO cat 2 territory with the Foden at 25,338 kg plus your vehicle before even adding the trailer weight, assuming it's not classed as 'recovery'. There's a similar thread about this somewhere on here with a Mili Mk3 & trailer with tracked vehicle. Might be simpler to do the private HGV low loader like the traction engine blokes.
