  1. Looks good, tried to download them to read at leisure but issue 1 doesn't exist on that link, is there another way to get it? Gary
  2. Just spoke with an ex soldier of mine I hadn't seen for about 25 years and told him about my mil vehs etc. He said that in a garage 20mts from his house there are two ks750 zundapps ex Afrika Korps motor bikes and sidecar also 1952 220s convertable mercedes the guy died 15 years ago and his wife wont part with them, what a waste. So out there are rare finds, old barn finds and restoreable vehicles. These are apparently in V Good condition but not moved for all that time. Gary
  3. If you are a member of the FBHVC they have a link with an insurer (through broker on their website) who does this type of liability and working on projects etc insurances Gary
  4. As rightly said matter has been dealt with and now closed. Choppers are not called that for nothing, keep yer head down lads
  5. Yep the times we live in, some rare items getting binned all the time and some are hard to get anymore
  6. Re fatalities/near fatalities.....is that chopper (and 'pilot') going again this year?.....a few hairy moments by looks of things from last years footage (now somewhere in the forum archives) http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?19821-A-great-week-that-could-have-ended-so-tragically&highlight=W%26amp%3BP+helicopter Unfortunately youtube video now removed by owner etc
  7. I have used the inner flap from the stowage bags before to repair canvas - We have just skipped a couple of brand new 4 tonne canvas tilts, so will have a look tonight to see if they are still there. All our 4 tonne NOS and stock is being skipped at moment as we no longer have the vehicles any more. It is a crying shame as most of it would go at a swap meet or similar but we cannot sell it on and have to bin it all. What beggars belief if the skip driver etc can take it away then sort it all out and sell it at a local car boot etc. If the MOD had act together (or time etc) they could easily sell it to brokers (Anchor etc) and at least get something for it. I can see a marketing opportunity here for someone with time on their hands to receive all that stuff and catalogue n sell it off lol
  8. Why does USO and others not rent an adjacent field from a neighbouring farmer etc and set up a W&P fringe show to run at same time and market it etc, even get people to hand out leaflets over the days, they could run their own event and keep all of the profit etc. Some farmer might be grateful of the rent for a few days lol. How about an HMVF Overspill rally lol
  9. I use Bargainvault.com for all my hosting sites, good support and cheap too
  10. The link to that Shelters thread PDF by Clive if you trawl down it shows you same one on side of a Commer and a box body trailer etc http://www.hmvf.co.uk/pdf/SHELTERS.pdf
  11. Looks like parts of a vyanide shelter (No 25 Mk 1??) that is distinctive with the oiled cotton light green window panels and the X reinforced panel which was used on top or side depending on varient. It looks in brand new condition and Grade 1++ I am sure someone who either has one or the frames etc would bite your hand off for it. Pity you don't have complete set (poles/pegs etc) as they are worth a few bob now. Common use by commers and early bedford RLs in 50s and other vehicle Humber pigs etc. I think in the forum Clives Section there is a thread all about them re Army Shelters in PDF format. Added later I see the side panels with the sand pockets to add weight on hard ground where you couldn't peg into ground. The shelter panels looks like a full set (or near enough ) and the main panel with the X reinforcement has the panels with the windows that wrap around corner and the seperate panels to add side and rear to make light tight. Last complete one I seen in not as good condition as this one went for over £500 at an auction I was at.

  16. Yep the seller drained oil from sump (there is no oil filter as it is an add on component but this would need drained as well). He wrapped it up in clingfilm then laid it on its side -it is a straight 6 so basically flat and almost same size as a standard pallet. He then banded it to pallet. The courier company came to uplift, labelled it and made sure there were no leaks etc. I told them there was no forklift at uplift so a tail lift and pallet barrow required, there was hard standing. At other end we have a forklift but also hard standing and they arrived with same as uplift so was just as quick to roll it off into garage. UK Pallets were very good and communicated throughout - recommend them and would use again. I suppose if no clingfilm the palet could be lined with absorbent material on top of plastic, with the engine wrapped in same and tied on securely. Gary A couple of photos new left old right, just need to swap over a few bits, basically everything else same.
  17. BTW I haven't forgotten about yellow tags, there are no red ones anymore, as we don't use leaded petrol, only unleaded green ones. Our lot are on Easter leave at moment will get back on it once back
  18. Hi Whilst swapping over our 216 chevy (GMC casting mark on it) engine that was roasted and buckled I have noticed the Temp Gauge is stuck at 70 and no movement despite applying heat/cold. Does anybody know where we might get one or what a similar type we might use (GMC etc) Size approx 60mm Dia made by VDO http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/garyawallace/17042011158.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/garyawallace/17042011159.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/garyawallace/17042011160.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/garyawallace/17042011161.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/garyawallace/17042011162.jpg Thanks Gary

  22. You are both right technically but immediately below the wings would be the DZ Flash (as mentioned above) with the rank below it, if the wearer was an NCO then there would be 2 squares like the one shown DZ Flash over Rank patch if a Pte then just the DZ flash Gary
  23. I know they needed the steel from scrap and mothballed ordnance and vehicles but what a criminal shame getting rid of those used as monuments or one off trial vehicles never to be seen again gary
