  1. In 1974 was issued white ones and black ones, then we had to blacken and bull the white ones. Others were issued brown ones. No reason except what was in the store at time and sizes. Still have them on my kit issue list (formerly AF 1157) and when i finally demob will hand them in with the trousers, lightweight, shirts, wooly pully, gloves knitted, vests and drawers cellular, green long johns, Parasmock etc
  2. the ring looks the same as the ones used on some british grenades and might be mine related as a safety transit plate removed after placement etc by the arming and camouflaging party in minelaying drills (drill c etc) Gary
  3. The last time I seen a tin like that was a puncture repair kit (for inflatables) which was a mini version of a biscuit tin and was an MOD supplied item -still issued as part of repair kit for the avon recce boat or would it be a version of the No 2 burner casing (I know they used biscuit tins and sand but similar in size to it etc
  4. I have seen one similar as a safety plate on a mine and also on the nose /head of a shell
  5. and the time they take to get out the door they would all be 10 miles apart, then theres the lack of slipstream, the lack of noise, the excessive drop height oh I could go on......lol no wonder the sceptic tanks won the war single handed hehe (TFIC)
  6. So it's a wait out until Joris prints off the table of rank to post equivalents then we can start saving for the HMVF mess dress and spurs etc. Gary
  7. I fully concur with all of previous posts and have run Jolley electronic Ign on the jeep with no problem whatsoever (now I've done it - touching wood even more frantically) Gary

  19. Hi We are extending our driver base for the CMP C60L wrecker that we own - although most of us are HGV1 and no problem with licences we were wondering if this vehicle could be driven on an ordinary licence. Although it is in wrecker mode it is not a working vehicle nor commercial etc and insured/taxed as a private historic vehicle etc. I think it is about 3 ton and the long wheelbase version similar to the one pictured Thanks Gary

  24. Dear All Before the annual jamming up of networks and information overload in cyberspace let me wish each and all a very Happy New Year when it comes to where ever you are on the planet. To brighten up the dreary wet nights why not visit the link below and scroll down to spend some time browsing the WW2 Pin Up gals who kept the boys going during the war. Enjoy! http://www.skylighters.org/photos/pinups.html and this link even has photo collections with some of them showing equipment and vehicles etc http://www.skylighters.org/photos/index.html whilst on the main menu it gives many sub menus to other interesting sites and collections etc http://www.skylighters.org/mainmenu.html Gary
