  1. Off they go, our bedfords finally backloaded to Withams (5 in total from my Sqn and about 20 across the regiment), next the UBREs and DAFs with the MAN SVs taking their place. The buyers will be pleased - all recently refurbished, loads of new parts and low mileages etc Gary
  2. opted for UK Pallets who quoted £86 all the rest in mid to high hundreds, will report back once it arrives Pick up today and delivery tomorrow or Monday Gary
  3. thanks, registered with shiply so hopefully a good quote inbound gary
  4. Details sent to them for an estimate so will find out Monday all being well Gary
  5. Thanks Guys Some to contact now and get quotes etc. Looking at the Epay sellers who ship their similar sized engines the range seems £40 to £80 - might also contact them to see who they use too Gary
  6. Looking for any contact details or numbers etc for a cheap/friendly courier to bring a palletised 216 Chevy Engine from Southampton area - Brockenhurst, Hampshire to Dunfermline, Fife. Or someone who has experience of shipping nationally that can advise. Regards Gary
  7. again thanks, will give the factors a try gary
  8. Probably been posted before but some nice LRDG/ILRS Pathe news footage. Various vehicles and portee'd artillery etc. If you get a chance to trawl there are loads of other MV films in there too! Gary http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=51977 http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=52206
  9. Yep round look better but in interest of safety our wrecker gets driven by different people and would rather they could see than wipe out something changing lanes etc. Just looking for something that looks period and not plastic.
  10. Hi Anyone got any contacts or whereabouts I can purchase rectangular door mirrors to replace the round ones on our CMP? These small round ones are useless to see anything behind and only good for shaving with. Gary
  11. PM me your address and I can send you some red CIVGAs and Yellow DIESO jerrican plates as we use in the British Forces. As a transport Regiment we usually have a pile sitting around or as we sometimes do - paint the caps red and yellow Gary
  12. It's probably been nicked and restored by someone on here before selling on Ebay lol:blush:
  13. Yesterday on the X Country driving area with our MAN trucks at Ellington Banks, Ripon Next time we're there anyone in the area fancy a drive of the MAN? gary
  14. There should be a pile of Man SVs heading out of Ashchurch over next few weeks as our Regts are picking them up to deliver to all the Sqns, we are also casting at least half of our FFR tithimous Land rovers and all our 4 tonne Bedford/Daf fleet -so Withams will be busy again soon Gary
  15. There are other films on that same site- reports from a friend mentions the film D Day-Beach to Berlin etc but not seen them myself yet. Could spend hours searching on the archives of this site, there are even spreadsheets about GMC production, powerpoints on D Day etc gary
  16. Excellent stuff guys! it is amazing all of the information from you knowledgeable chaps that can be given from a little film. If only some of the rarer ones were still about -probably sitting in a scrap yard in the desert now. And to see the difference from the Pathe one in black and white - the colour makes it come to life
  17. HeHe, Lighten up and take a chill pill, wasn't pointing at anyone - just that to take the film for what it is - not a discussion on the international treaties for the allies in 43, yes you were correct in ALL you said but it doesn't change the price of fish. Next thing there will be someone posting here saying that the heirarchy of the flags of the nations were wrong because such and such had more soldiers than another. The film was there for vehicle enthusiasts to look at NOT to start WW3 -of which we will probably get another film made lol Gary
  18. at the end of the day does it change the film or parade any? Does anyone lose sleep over it? it was a pile of Allied countries getting together and marching and flag waving for the locals, handing out medals and sticking 2 fingers up to the axis powers etc
  19. Yes it was probably the League of Nations but whoever archived it and put up the title (for search etc) has put UN. Again as steveo578 rightly says UN was referred to etc but wasn't the formal organisation as it became post-war
  20. Chaps Excellent colour footage of the UN parade in Cairo 1943- good spread of troops, vehicles and artillery pieces etc -some in cammo scheme http://www.archive.org/details/gov.archives.arc.3069 Look out for the Portee'd guns on the flat trucks early on film and near the end the armoured cars with the skull and crossbones on the front Gary
  21. This one is even better in the Finnish Army but there is not a lot of kit on there lol
  22. As an aside all our Tithonus landies came with faults and were cr*p and immediately VOR'd -one fault was hubs and also wheel nuts too long(deep) for the wheel studs due to extra thickness of wheel rims etc. There is a long list of mods that had to be done. In reality it was all cosmetic and still same underpowered engine under bonnet. Our FFRs run out of puff on a hill, best running them in dark then switch lights off before reaching a hill so they don't see it lol. Gary
  23. Due to recent cuts in RAF personnel 10,000 of these uniform hanger units are to be placed around airfields to make them look busier than they really are. or To stop the US 'Blue on Blue' attacks by their pilots there is a curfew around UK airfields in Afghanistan when only jackets on stands will be visible from the air.
